Text Messaging issues

Stock Thunderbolt, Stock SMS app. No OTA updates.

Randomly when selecting a txt thread (out of say 5 threads), say selecting the second from the top, i'd actually get the 4th or 5th thread.

also, when viewing a thread clicking in the "add text" to reply, the reply would be sent to a different person. although they weren't the original person.

I had the same issues with Handcent and it would do it most often when I was receiving texts while trying to do everything you detailed.

I've got that same issue with my stock sms app and once I selected the thread I wanted and when I hit send it still sent the text to an entirely different person. I've factory reset and it still does it from time to time.

I'm having this issue as well, but only after the ota. I'm assuming this is a known issue? I'm 100% stock.

this happens to me too frequently. ive sent embarrassing txts to the wrong ppl... so now, i check and recheck the recipient on txts with sensitive subject matters... it is an issue that, for me, is worse than the short battery life.

Glad to know i'm not the only one with these issues. I've started deleting threads just to be safe. Had an embarrassing moment with this text messaging issue.

I have had the same problems using GoSMS as well... Now my text app will not even open. I have tried both GoSMS and Handcent...

My og droid did it a bit also. I've found that by keeping the number of both messages and threads down that the phone responds much better. Having 1000+ messages per thread will only lead to issues.

Same thing here. It just happened in fact. Was typing a message to the wife, and boom, on send it went to another contact.

Are all of you stock users? I only asking because I haven't ever had this problem and I was stock for a while a rooted about a month ago

My daughters has done it since the update. Mine started doing it Thursday night. I shut it down and removed the sim card then put the sim back in and started it and it hasn't done it since. So hopefully it solved the issue. I am done with this phone though. Too many issues. I'll never buy another HTC. I get an upgrade on another phone on my account in 2 weeks. I'm using it to get me another phone. As for my daughter, I'm going to add another line and get her another phone with it. Then cancel it when her line now is up for renewal.

It'a a known bug that won't be fixed until we are on 2.3. It's been around forever and Google never made it a big deal to fix it until Engadget made a stink over it late last year.
