I've been trying to find out if I can set personal ringtones for text. Everything I've read just tells me how to set 1 ringtone for all text messages. Can I set a ringtone to specific people or groups? Or is there an app for this? And if not does anyone know of a way to suggest this to someone that might know how to make something like this?

Handcent SMS is a really nice app, with a lot of customizable features, like custom ringtones for each contact.

I'd recommend Handcent as well. You can customize each contacts own ringtone... and you can change the LED color for notifications.
