the android vs iphone debate

The iphone vs android debate -galaxies?

My dx2 contract just expired and i have been researching fairly diligently to decide if i should switch to iphone or stay droid. Ive read and heard a lot of good and bad about both. Ive seen it said that iphones are a lot easier to learn and use and that they do almost anything u want them to do and have great features. But also that they are a very closed os and cant be customized. Ive even read from one person that they are for babies. I'm fairly technologically challenged and it takes me awhile to learn devices. It took me quite awhile to master my droid. I was always playing with it to try and learn it, and always messing it up and having to call tech support to get it operating right again. I dont want to spend months learning my phone well. So in that regard, the iphone sounds good to me. But on the other hand I want to be able to personalize my phone and make it into MY phone - not a carbon copy of everyone else's. Ive been reading and hearing a lot of good about galaxy sIII (or whatever they are exactly named). Ive been told that if i now know my droid, it wont be hard to learn a new one - that it will be mostly the same. Question though: are galaxies droids? Cuz i'm thinking of trying one, but i dont know. I dont wannahave spend monthsmonths learning it, and i also want a good camera with front and rear face and good resolution. The dx2 has rear face only and it just doesnt take very good pictures. Anyhow, i feel like i still need to collect more opinions before leaning in one direction. Suggestions or opinions anybody? Thx.:icon_ lala:

well ya anyone who wants nothing to do with technology tend to go towards iphones. they are grandparents phones in my opinion. very simplistic. if something goes wrong with it, the likly fix will be to restart it. but i believe apple is a dieing company. without steve jobs around ill bet the company will sink very soon. they dont give more creativity than they capture. they try to horde all the patents. i also notice a lot of people love gps on phones and they let go of a well developed thing like google maps and it will continue to bite them in the ass. but back to your question, yes a galaxy is indeed an android and my girlfriend got a galaxy s3 late last year and loves it. shes not tech savvy at all but it works great for her. its super fast and reliable and the camera is quick and takes excellent pics. its got a beam thing that lets you share stuff instantly with other galaxy users. its also got 4g which is faster than 3g internet. you can save massive amounts of money by buying $10-20 mirco sd cards on amazon for playing music and media. although iphones are easier to use, they are boring and inefficient imo. i would totally recommend the galaxy for you

Android is an operating system. The S3 is not a "Droid" however it is an Android. A "Droid" is simply a name given to a specific line of Android based phones. The three major operating systems are iOS (Apple), Android, & Windows. The Android OS is the same on all Android based phones with only slight differences due to different Android versions and UI skins if the phone even has one (ie... HTC Sense or Moto Blur). There will be a slight learning curve with any new phone but the basics of the OS won't change much. I hope this helps.
