The D1 is no longer supported by Cyanogenmod.

Barely runs? My rom'd Droid runs better then alot of newer stock phones

Gingerbread runs nice on my phone to. But I think what he meant is they barely got gingerbread in the d1. It runs but it wasnt an easy process to get their. So it barely runs could mean simply the effort it took to get their.

I was referring to a little of both.

For me, just too much lag and not enough memory to get an acceptable experience out of GB on the OG. Now the Fascinate that I just picked up, that thing absolutely flies on GB. I didn't truly realize how bad my OG was, different world. I can't even image what the Nexus is going to be like...

I haven't cheated on my D1... it will be quite the pleasure to play with another phone. Made that sound Giggity. :P I get what your saying though, I bet it runs great for me because the only thing I'm comparing it to is how the D1 ran previously.

The Liquid Smooth Gingerbread I put on my old D1 (which is based on CM) is doing nicely, but I'm handing it down to someone who will never load up a lot of apps on it. Freshly installed a few days ago, the phone runs like new, rockin' Gingerbread 2.3.7. But even under Froyo, I killed it with too many apps when I was using it. Night and day difference between the D1 and the Thunderbolt I just got.

Makes sense to drop support though. I'd rather have the CM team work on some of the newer phones out there, rather than devote more time to upgrading the old one. Plus, they've taken things as far as they can for the D1.

I would prefer to see the OG to see every update, even jelly bean....ect, until it explodes from love. Then to have the support dropped, Its a sad day.

Bah no matter... I went back to Froyo a long time ago... Droid Concepts mod version 13, Android 2.2.3 build FRK76 runs great on my D1. I have no plans on updating my phone just so I can run CM... lol My D1 does everything I need right now. I will wait until these manufacturers and users get it sorted out the next 'great' phone! lol or until my D1 hardware stops working then I will have to make a decision. Until then my D1 lives on!!!

If the Galaxy Nexus comes unlocked maybe I take the upgrade plunge ... lol

Eh. For some. Mine's got a messed up headphone jack. That being said, I've clocked over 3200 hours of uptime on mine now. Old faithful will probably keep going to 10,000 hours at this rate. Kinda saddened to see support being dropped but it was inevitable. Despite the fact it ran quite well at 1.21gHz(I want to say gigawatts) on interactive governor on cm7.

I agree with everything you said minus the fact I will DEFINITELY be uprgrading to the Nexus.:)

Had to happen eventually, a little over 2 years old, legendary run for a smartphone. Keep my Droid by my bedside as a quick web browser/alarm now.

The D1 will sit by my PSP 1000 proudly. My psp was a home brew masterpiece back in the day. Custom firmaware and all that. When D1 camout it took place of my psp. lol seems like ive been involved in lots of devices that get hacked. Both are my beloved device really. Lots of hours spent making them perfect.
