This is a little about Skelly, called a number of similar names also when I grew up in the Bronx. It was a game played in the gutter usually in my neighborhood. Someone drew a square in the gutter near the curb and there were numbered areas on that square to be able to earn points. You would flick a bottle cap from square to square, trying to earn the most points. Usually other folks not playing might circle around and bet on who was going to win. It was very competitive and lots of fun to play. BK, was it similar in your neighborhood?

This is how the board looked, more or less. They have this design on a t-shirt. Maybe I should get one. I played, but my brother did not. He was only 2 years younger, but his friends played Ace-king-queen and Off the point. My husband remembers playing stickball in the street. We Bronx kids spent a lot of time playing "in the streets" I'm glad I grew up at a time where kids could play in the street with their friends and all the parents looked out for all the kids.
