40 plus mpg trumps any benefit with EV .. cost and loss of cargo space for the batteries, plus the downtime required to charge this batteries, not to mention the range anxiety over the potential of becoming a paper weight on the side of the road due to a dead battery.
Uphill and using heater or AC drains the battery. Everything, including the heater and air conditioneris electric.
I believe there will be nothing but EV's soon, and as far as I can see there's no infrastructure in place yet either. Toyota has a hydrogen cell car too but no infrastructure for that either.
There are no stations here to plug in an EV car that I know of. In the hospital in my town, there are exactly 4 plug in spaces in the whole 4 floor garage. What does a handicapped person do who needs both a plug in space and a handicapped space as my friend would if her vehicle was electric?
