The Galaxy S3 Pre-Order Thread

For some reason, I got an additional $100 off my upgrade, so I got the 32GB Pebble Blue GS3 for $149....I have no idea what the discount was for, but I'm not complaining. I walked into a corporate verizon store for my pre-order. Ship date is still July 11.

My understanding is you have to preorder before june 28th with verizon directly to be grandfathered unlimited but I can not confirm this. My verizon guy laughed as I put in my 32gig pebble blue preorder saying he had just finished entering his own preorder for the same

If I were you I would cancel the Target pre-order and go thru Verizon directly. If you have a 3G phone, you can call up and ask for a 3G to 4G discount to lessen the cost. In general, you have more protections when you deal with Verizon directly. Third party sellers (whether that's Target/Walmart, Costco, or "authorized dealers") will say whatever they can to get the sale. They're not the ones you'll be calling to get your plan fixed.

oh wow, the guy at Target told me I can preorder from them and keep my unlimited data so I did a $50 deposit :(

$50 deposit? Wierd. I'd cancel that order and get your $50.00 back, call 611 and pre order TODAY and make sure you have your email address on file with VZW before doing it so you get an email confirm.

FWIW, I hate Taget and don't trust them. Beka27 is right, that Target reseller will not call and fix ANYTHING he messes up on. He will say "oh i'm sorry I messed that up, well guess your stuck doing the Family Share plan.." Not to scare you but I couldn't wait till mid July for my SGS3 pre order from ANY authorized dealer, especially Taget, i'd have small heart attacks a few times a week from the stress :)

Are we bashing on target here?? You know, you guys should really consider what you're doing!!! I mean SRSLY?? You didn't ask me to join in?? :p I'm with them on this lol... stay away from target. :) my sister had a really bad experience with target and their cell phone sales... what a MESS!!!

DROID RAZR MAXXIMIZED!!!! PREPARE TO BE VANQUISHED!!!

This is a little bit off topic, but I haven't see this question asked anywhere yet. If I pre-order the SIII before the 28th to lock in my unlimited data, do you think that if I call Verizon on July 5th when the Incredible 4g is released that they will let me switch my order and keep my unlimited data? It would be before the SIII is even shipped out to me. I really like the SIII, but its just to big for me to carry around in my jeans pocket all day. Thanks!

He lied. Just like Best Buy is doing. Your $50 is only guaranteeing you a device on launch day or whenever they get them in. You will do nothing with your contract until it comes in and you actually purchase it. At that point you will already be well beyond the cut off for locking in your unlimited.

Call up Verizon and preorder it thru them. They will send you out an email confirming your new 2 year contract. Your card won't get charged until it ships (anytime from July 9-11) but the new contract will be in place.

I know a lot of people like Best Buy or Costco or Amazon for mobile phone purchases... But I've always bought thru Verizon directly. These 3rd party sellers often have hidden stipulations that I don't want to deal with. I'm not comfortable going thru a 3rd party and just *hoping* it all works out.

I do wonder however if Verizon is going to have to have a short "leeway" period (grace period). There's no doubt that some people will have target or best buy phones that aren't qualifying for unlimited because of the "deposit versus preorder" thing... And these people will be raising holy hell. I have to assume that for a week or two after release they'll need to be making manual adjustments to accounts, just to keep the peace. They'll probably say there's nothing they can do but the management will be involved big time.
