The Official DF Droid 4 Pre-Release Thread

I'm disappointed they didn't improve the specs during the "disappearing act"....

This website says the Droid 4 was officially released today, however since I just received notice from Verizon that I'm eligible for a new phone today, I called in and those that handle selling the new phones haven't received any info.

Maybe tomorrow or by week's end.

It was officially "announced" at CES. Up til now it was all leaks and rumors. Release "in the coming weeks" probably means sometime, maybe early, next month.

development takes a long time you change one piece of hardware and you need to retest it for a month then you aLso need to manufacture it. this hasnt been gone long enough. these were already manufactured and are just waiting on a shelf for me to buy they just needed something to show off for ces. mainly because they already busted there nut on the gnex

Just checked Wirefly and Amazon Wireless; the Droid 3 is available for $19.99 at contract renewal price. Guess I'll wait a few months to get the D4 until it's <$50 and comes with ICS.

oh it was all me i re wrote it cause i never included the qoute... i am sick of a lot of things right now
1. everyone complaining cause the phone was "delayed" for a few weeks and expecting it to have all these major revamps
2. the gnex people who like to ride in on posts and insult the droid 4 because they think there piece of plastic is so amazing maybe some of us like a keyboard
3. what did you expect ... verizon launches droid 4 and then at ces they are holding the lg sprectrum in one hand and there nuts in another.. and on that note motorola coming out with a improved razr max is all...
4. last but the the biggest thing for me is everyone complaining about all the phones comming out.... i say good... keep manufacturers on there toes... let them make things better every couple months that way when my contract is up i have chance to get a phone that is kinda current i mean lets say it was like i phone everyone would be waiting till next fall for a glimour of 4g

a little thought on my part....i think they were going to release the droid 4 early in dec. i dont think it was manufacturing, greed, or software that held the droid 4 up.... the more i think about it and i may be wrong i think they (motorola and verizon) were hoping to show off the jet and bullet at this show and they ended up not being able to... so they did the only thing you do you hold back an unreleased phone and put it up for show. i think motorola quad core is behind we havent heard one leak that i am aware (i havent been looking to much) i think with the merger that phone is being pushed to google.... maybe it will be the google nexus and dare i say google nexus slideout but who knows i am just speculating and hoping that happens

i changed it but personally my comment related to the people who thread crapped on droid 4 constantly i didnt direct at any person or even every gnex owner... but it is changed

I haven't seen it as much on here my original comment was directed mostly at the internet in general and everytime there is any droid 4 news some gnex peeps need to always come in and be jerks....its not everyone and not bad here prolly cause the mods are better here but other areas its ridiculous u try to discuss the droid 4 and someone comes in spamming gnex

Haha, that is the internet for ya!! It's unfortunate that for a lot of people, their way of showing pride in what they have is to bash what other people have.

We try our best to keep everyone respectful and the discussion about these devices we love and not about one another and that usually does the trick.

Actually I don't see where it says released other than the rumor mill of early February which is what i was told by a few other speculators ...lol Its all good. It will be a worthy phone if its anything like the Razr ..and it is! So...I hope its February for all you guys and gals benefit. Its a cross between my D2 and my Razr so...needless to say its a worthy phone of much anticipation for sure. Peace all and no worries!

Am I still interested? not sure. I would prefer a newer spec phone, but it does look nice. And my D1 is on it's last legs, barely hanging on. If I could get a good price, I probably would get one. I still like physical keyboards, but after using my Dad's SII, not sure. Maybe wait and test it out at the Verizon store against some others.
