drove 30 minutes to my closet corporate store (where I do all my business). Talked to my regular sales guy, we talk pretty regularly. He was frustrated about not having a release date, and said they had 40 shipped to their store, just sitting there. I asked to see one but he said that he couldn't. They work on commission, and said that he'd really like to have the sales, of course. He said he would email me when he finds out anything.
I asked if I could at least buy the accessories today, but all they had were the extra batter/charger combo, and the extended battery/ battery door.
Then went to Best Buy. The dude there (their assistant manager) reminded me of Ethan Suplee's character in Mallrats:

He really didn't care about rules, and even read me their computer notice "do not acknowledge we have the phones in the store". He just shrugged, turned around, and opened up their locked case, taking one of the GNex's out. He opened the stark white box, peeled off the protective cover, and powered on one of the bad boys for me! He let me play with it for as long as I wanted, it was fantastic!
My perception is this:
The plastic phone is not "plasticky" feeling at all. It felt very substantial and had a perfect weight to it. It was really light but not "wispy" like the RAZR. I loved the curved angles. It was very subtle in viewing it from the side, felt very smooth when I held it up to my face/ cheek, however when I laid the phone down on it's back it was flat - it did not rock at all. I was very worried about this with the curvature of the device, but it was engineered very well. The physical buttons had a perfect "click" to them, there was no mushy-ness.
The phone operated just like all of the "hands-on" videos we've seen, so I won't bore you with this. All in all, I had the phone in my hands for a good 10-15 minutes.
The dude said they only had 17 phones in store, and somebody was in before me saying they were buying 5 for their business account. Not many left after that! Price wise, he said $299 contract and they're selling $799 full retail. He really didn't care about Verizon or secrets, he just works there lol
Anyway, I completely fell in love after actually having my hands on one. Makes waiting that much harder, but also strengthens my resolve knowing that THAT is the phone that I will buy next!

I would have laughed at this statement. The only single thing I find better about the Rezound is the camera image quality.
Awesome!! I'm sure you would have mentioned it if he did...but did Ethan hint at a release date for BB, pray tell??
Rezound is a great phone, and I think the hardware outpaces GN and Razr in several aspects. I just can't get over Sense. Do not want Sense.
That 799 stings for us full retail folk. I already going to recoup a fair amount when I sell my d3 and and accessories. Oh well, this is why we work right
