Here's my first crack at customizing my home screen. I still need to find a good wallpaper. I'd also like to get the background of my clock widget to be see through but haven't gotten that all figured out yet. I'll gladly take any suggestions on either of those two issues.

Clock: Advanced Clock Widget w/ Android Clock Font
Icons: Created using Simple Text and Desktop Visualizer.

for the clock, tap on the clock (if it does nothing, remove the widget and add again)
after getting into the clock settings, choose "configure colors"
the "main color' is the background, choose it
then slide the 'alpha" slider all the way to the left and hit OK.
hit back, then back again, and it will be transparent.

as for the wallpaper, look for something mostly dark with bright accents. dark wallpapers always look better on AMOLED IMO.
