The official "I got it" thread

I just ordered this phone yesterday! I'll be getting it on Tuesday. I can't wait!!!

Will be my first smart phone, I'm upgrading from a Samsung Alias 2, so the Droid 4 will really be a new toy! lol

Anyone have issues with the back cover? I saw some videos of the covers popping out on Youtube. Hope it's not a problem!

Got it at BestBuy tonight.

They matched $149.99 Amazon price on a 2-yr contract extension, Plus I'm getting the $50 gift certificate promo they have for mobile purchases emailed to me within the next few business days.

How did you get a Best Buy to match Amazon? My local Best Buy says they will only match a local competitor. Is there a policy somewhere online?

BB always matches Amazons price here in the Cincinnati, Dayton area,. I've never had a problem with it. I picked a Rezound for my wife when they were $299 at BB and the sold it for $149. I bought the D4 yesterday for $99 no questions asked, the guy just asked what it was on Amazon and called the manager to do a price override

I picked up my Droid 4 this afternoon at the Verizon store, and here are my impressions:
  • Keyboard: The keyboard is fantastic. This is the best smartphone keyboard ever. Period.
  • Performance: Blazingly fast. No lag whatsoever.
  • 4G LTE: Amazingly fast. Faster than WiFi. Web pages load as fast as on my PC with a wired cable modem.
  • Display: The display is . . . fine. Yes, it's pentile, and if you hate pentile, you probably won't like it. I can see some ghosting when flipping through the app drawer, but that's the only time it's obvious. As far as I'm concerned, it's not an issue, and it's probably a good thing if it helps battery life.
  • Speaker: Very good and very loud.
  • Size: Perfect. Any larger would be too large. Thickness is almost exactly the same as my Droid 2.
  • Battery Life: Don't know yet. Will know more after a couple days.
  • Summary: I love this phone!

Agree for the most part, but not so impressed with the on-device browser speed.

But shes rooted, and pages load lighting fast on the PC via WiFi Tether. 4G and D4 FTW!!!dancedroiddancedroiddancedroiddancedroid

Fired up a Netflix movie, loaded in HD with no buffering, was pretty epic.

Beg pardon, did you say ROOTED? Already!?

Well I went to BB today, I had the Droid 4 in my hands for just a few minutes and then I gave it back. Let me explain further, One of our Droid forum members was lucky enough to get BB to price match Amazon at $149.99 and then collect on a $50 promotional gift card they were having for buying a new cellphone through them. So, I quickly went down to my local BB to try and get the same deal. So, after waiting 30 minutes in line to talk to a mobile salesperson to tell them I was looking for the Droid 4 and that I wanted a price match and the $50 gift card I was told "No Problem". Well, the guy setting up the phone was not the manager so after about twenty more minutes of prep work to get the phone up and running with my number and account info etc. he comes back to tell me that I could only have one discount, either the price match or the $50 promotion gift card. I said "HEY, I thought that we had a understanding BEFORE you even open the box what I was looking for both" and then he said "I know but the manager said that it's double dipping and is not allowed". So now he tells me the price is $160.49 and I said no thanks I can get it online cheaper. So I walked away really ticked off.

When I got home, I did go online and I thought I had found another great deal from Wirefly but I was mistaken. They advertise the phone for $149.99 plus a $30.00 Verizon gift card, but the catch is that you only get the $30 if you are upgrading from a non-smart phone. I didn't read that fine print until I was finally able to purchase the phone which is a big hassle especially if you're not the primary account holder. Since I'm upgrading my OG Droid I obviously won't be getting that $30 gift card from Verizon. So now I'm only saving $10.50 by buying it online but now I have to wait till mid week before it gets to my house. I guess I can't win for losing, if I would've known that I'd only be saving $10.50 I probably would have taken the Droid 4 from BB and have right now in my hands.

Now, I'm sulking and pissed off and I will probably be that way until mid week when I see that FedEx truck pull up outside my house. Until then I'll have to live vicariously through my fellow Droid Forum members who weild the Droid 4 and have great and wonderful information to report back to the forums. CYA...

Picked one up from vzw last night. First D4 my sales rep had sold. Looks like it ships with the back cover off as they have to insert the sim. He nearly broke the cover trying to "snap" it back into place instead of slide it. My upgrade had a$30 off promo plus I have a $50 corporate, but could only take one or the other - system wouldnt recognize both together. Good deal anyway at $50 off. Liking the speed over my D1, but overall build quality not as sturdy as the D1, especially the back cover. The D1 has survived many falls but this one is going to need a cover. Watch your sales rep as they put the back cover on, mine said all the covers "snap on" these days - clearly not trained on this phone!

Enjoy your final slider folks. I'm getting really worried that this will be it. Verizon reps don't even know this phone was released for crying out loud.

Heh. My sales rep had clearly never even seen a Droid 4 before. When he found the key for the cover in the back, he stared at it for a few seconds, then said, "What is this?" I explained how to use it.

After I bought the phone, and he was setting it up, he was like, "Wow, this phone is fast! And the keyboard's nice too." And this was after I had paid, so it wasn't just a sales job. The best part was the was that his personal phone was an iPhone...

On the other hand, if Apple succeeds in forcing Google to remove auto-correct from the Galaxy Nexus and ICS, and Samsunghttp://gigaom.com/apple/apple-sues-samsung-over-autocorrect-other-ios-patents/ to remove auto-correct from all of its touchscreen phones, we may be seeing a lot more Android phones with physical keyboards...

I think people are realizing why Best Buy is in trouble and will probably join Circuit City in less than five years. Horrendous customer service.

I have a feeling this phone won't even outsell the D3.. that phone sold surprisingly well, was sold out nationwide after a few days and people had to wait for the phone to be shipped to their houses. Granted I'm sure they didn't have a while bunch in stock, but I remember an article saying Verizon didn't expect that.

I never have much luck with most of the Verizon sales reps... last week, I went to compare the Razr with the Razr Maxx (this was before I decided to get the phone I really wanted, the Droid 4). The lady handed me two original Razrs - one black and the other purple and told me that the purple one was the Razr Maxx. It took me 15 minutes to explain to her that the purple one was NOT the Maxx. I always feel like I know more about their phones then they do!
