The official "I've got my Galaxy S3" thread!

I've had mine (16, Blue) for almost two weeks now. Rooted, WiFi nag removed and toggle tweaks, froze some unwanted apps, and removed e911 icon in statusbar. No other modifications. This phone honestly is everything I wish my Droid 2 was out of the box. Excellent battery life, I appreciate Samsung's productivity applications, and TouchWiz has much more class than MotoBlur.

The bootloader, while I disagree with Verizon's move on principle, doesn't bother me too much. This phone is killer right out of the box, and to me, the incessant tinkering that accompanies an unlocked bootloader would just eat into my family time. I almost lost my mind flashing and reflashing ROMs on my D2 to turn it into what it should have been. I'm quite grateful I don't have to do that with this beautiful little guy.

Cheers

I feel like the reception and sound quality is every bit as good as my Maxx. In fact, the S3 seems to hold the 4G signal much better. On the Maxx it would periodically drop data even in strong signal area...to the point of being an annoyance and causing many users to disable LTE (prior to that feature being removed in the ICE upgrade)

I agree with the other poster that the build quality is solid in the S3.. .do not confuse a clunky heavier Maxx with superior build quality. The engineering in the S3 feels more refined and elegant...and fits better in my hand.

I have also been seriously impressed with the battery life. As a heavy user, I can go a whole day without a charge. I end up plugging in this phone to charge during the day as often as my Maxx.

This is the best phone currently available through Verizon IMO.

Maybe a heavy user in ur eyes lol.. mine don't even last 5 hours!! And I also disagree with ur build quality statement its not that great at all if u like flimsy plastic.. and mine has a squeeky back cover.

I am a heavy user so in terms of battery I'm only going to get about half a day out of it.

The reception isn't quite as good as what you would get on a motorola phone, but that isn't saying that it's a bad. This 1 may actually hold the 4 g signal better than my razr did

overall, I have to say that I absolutely love the phone. It's not perfect, but then again no phone never will be

Although I dont have a lot of bars showing i have no probles with calls or internet somes times 4g sometimes 3g. It was the same with my Charge even though that got a lot of bars. My friends Razor was the same as the S3. I think the S3has a lot more + than anything out there!

Im on a network extender in my cabin in WI when I leave here Im on a extended 3g network. My S3 has never been on a verizon 3g network yet alone 4g. I am from IL where I have a very strong 4 g network cant wait to get back. Anyway juzt wondering how the S3 holds 4g is it pretty solid or is it dtopping off like the Bionic?

Not sure what you're saying here.

Are you out in the middle of nowhere and you get no signal?

Yeah pretty much so

yeah pretty much so Im on a Verizon network extender kindaike my own little cell tower but its only 3g. When I go to town I get 3g but it is on an dxtebded network also Verizon uses US CELL towers so yes my S3 has never been on 4g or an actual Verizon network make any sense?

Interesting, the back on my Maxx had an annoying bubble under the Kevlar that would stick and release at random times, and the back of my s3 is tight with no squeak. I guess both are subject to manufacture and quality control issues. BTW I only called myself a heavy user because my Maxx would often times need to be recharged before the end of the day, while others would post claims of 3 day battery life. So I assumed I must be a heavy user because nobody would exaggerate their battery life claims, right? Lol !

Well, I'm scared to say this, because I said it when I first got my Bionic, I love my Galaxy S3. Some of the stock apps like the email, screen locker, messenging are great, in my opinion. I dropped a few of the apps I used on my Bionic, didn't need them on my SG3.

Hopefully I haven't spoken to soon. But, this phone is fabulous!

Two weeks and still lovin it...I don't think there is a perfect phone out there. The S3 is pretty nice though... even if it is not perfect.

''Unfortunately Messaging App has stopped working"

I don't know if this is what is causing your problem, but I had the same message and it was because I checked the box "Do Not Keep Activities" which is in the settings, under developer options, under apps.
