The only design flaw on this phone...

I'm not taking shots at anyone. I just hear the OP complaining about a bunch of stuff, why not just return the phone if you hate all these key issues?

My only point is, for the capabilities of the phone and keeping with the slimness of design, this battery is not bad. I text a ton a month, surfing, a bunch of other things, and I never go to bed without 40% battery remaining. At least with this phone you can change out a battery and buy a second battery on eBay for 4 bucks with shipping. Cough cough iPhone.

I simply lock the phone as soon as I am done with it, turn off WiFi when not using it, turn off BT when not using, etc.

Yea, it's frustrating, and some people do just love to find things to complain about. I think for the most part though most people have one or two things that they'd like to have improved, and battery life is one of them.

You'd have to admit that there are some who are Droid fans who naturally just ignore any complains anyone has with the "well then just sell it!" line. You're not one of them, and you had a valid point. OP did have quite a bit of complaints.

Yeah I don't like fanboyism, I have my own complaints about the phone. But I just look at battery life and say, for what this phone does, battery life is not bad. It lasts me all day, which is more than you can say for ANY laptop. And I have a very slim, barely-take-up-room -in-my-pocket $4 battery from eBay that can get me an extra 7-8 hours if need be, although I rarely carry it unless I am traveling.

I'm interested then, what are some of the complaints you have with the phone? Legitimate question, discussion starter if you will.

EDIT: btw, just saw you used to be from Pgh, what portion? I live in Lawrence county north of Pittsburgh, watching the Pens game as we type.

If you took time to read, you would see I only complained about the USB port and battery. So why return it? It will last me six months till a better phone is out. Its pretty evident Google has given up on this phone.as of.right now with the lack of 2.1.

I grew up in Churchill before I joined the Army.

One of my biggest complaints about the phone is the lack of ring profile stock, or even with an app.

Any phone should have a silent except for alarm and phone call setting...and a vibrate for everything setting. You can't set this phone to vibrate even with ANY app on the Market and have EVERYTHING vibrate without setting your notifications to vibrate at all times. And it's stupid to HAVE to have your emails and texts vibrate when you have the ringer on if you don't want them to. At least with ChompSMS you can have it set to vibrate "only if ringer is set to vibrate" but you can't do that with GMail. So you get silent emails when everything else is on vibrate. Stupid. That's a basic function of 99% of phones.

It doesn't appear you have anything productive to contribute. I'm glad this forum has an "ignore" feature. I think I'll give it a test-run.
Don't care. You are just hurt by the truth. Google is only looking at the Nexus 1 for now. Check out how many update it has had in the last few weeks. The same if not more than the Droid has had in its few months.

That's because the N1 flopped right out of the gate and the Droid is still strong. So why wouldn't they focus all of their attention, at least for the short term, on the failing product? It's about the money and the Droid sells...the N1 has gotten some pretty hard hits from day one. Fix what's broke first, then go after what needs improvement.

Good thing some of you guys aren't businessmen.

....... No. The updates that the N1 has been receiving have nothing to do with the problems people were complaining about. The updates they have been getting in the past few weeks, e.g. multi touch are things the Droid lacks. I'm honestly starting to doubt they will even update the Droid anymore. I give it 2.1 and that's it. The N1 is their baby and they will focus on it first and the Droid second from here on out. And it's only going to get worse when it hits Verizon.

And yes I am a business man.

Grey Hawk, not sure right now if your information is 100% correct. There is definately frustration over the lack of an update to the Droid. The (in my mind) extremely long wait for our 2.1 OS concerns me long term, as it does you.

But, there could be some issues that we aren't completely aware of. There may be some hardware issues or differences that are being worked out. I'd rather have a solid update than a rushed one. Also, we're not sure of the ultimate responsiblity of the update. Is it Google who updates Motorola's product, or is it Motorola? Or is it a combination?

If you know for sure, do share. I'm very interested.

Do some research before you post stupid things. The Nexus has had ONE update since it came out. The same as the Droid.

Then return the phone if you hate it so bad. Seriously. I ask you to go find a phone that does what the Droid does, with the same screen and features, and see if you get different results.

I've had the iPhone, G1, Curve, enV3, and the Droid just in the last two years.

Why would I return the phone? I'm one of the biggest advocates you'll ever see about this phone.

I just don't agree with people's responses when someone has a VALID point. They want to ignore or justify the debatable shortcomings of the Droid, and that, in itself, is not helpful.. which is the point of us having a FORUM for DISCUSSION.

Your points aren't valid to anyone else, that's my point. This phone is better than any other one that can be grouped as comparable to it.

Well, you are mistaken. There are multiple posts about battery life. Just because you don't agree doesn't make it not true. Also, "Your points aren't valid to anyone else" is also untrue.

Your last sentence is also an opinion, which is also debatable.

Because of your overzealousness of defending the phone as "better than anything else", you are blind to any imperfections of the phone. Personally, I think its the best phone that Verizon offers. I also acknowledge it isn't perfect.

I can look at things unbiasedly, unlike yourself.

I can understand though, since I completely destroyed your post earlier, which made zero sense, and was factually incorrect. Its hard to look foolish in public.
