[Theme] 928Droid Black Glass X for Droid X !!!

928Droid Black Glass X OTA2315 DeOdexEERR?

lol well im hopin they are amazing new themes. you do a fantastic job. im not super stoked about the red and black but i think this theme layout is wonderful. i just wish i could have a way to make it android green and black. just a better combo in my opinion.

Thanks!!

I can assure the new Themes will be cool...or nobody will ever see them :-)

Black and Green is an HTC thing... Black and Red is a Droid X thing...maybe you bought the wrong phone??? Ha, Ha, just messing with ya. :)

As an ole HotRodder and Sports Car guy, stick me and I bleed Black and Red.... Don't expect too much variation from that in any of my Themes. Those 2 colors and Machined or Polished Billet Aluminum ...are the only real colors I know of. :-)

Dave,

Wow I can't believe you spent the long hours doing all of this for everyone in the community. I have a quick question, I have the leaked 2.3.15 running your OZA 2315. Everything works great and until there is a full SPF 2.2 I don't plan to go OTA official 2.2. Should I stay on the OZA2315 bgx or could I flash the new BGx OTA2315 DeOdexEERR Theme. Thanks again for all your hard work bring us such a near flawless full theme Blackglass is the only theme for Droid X . dancedroid

Thanks,

AWESOME Theme - just installed it tonight. I was beginning to regret moving from an N1 to the DX, but this theme gave me hope that I didnt have to live with Moto's bad sense of UI design.

Thanks,

First, you can just run the latest OTA2315 DeOdexed Theme, no need for the DeOdexEERR, Unless you are experiencing weird issues that could be caused by improper or incomplete DeOdexing. Obvious issues would be Black Clock etc. They both have the exact same Themed apks in them.

Second, you really should consider going back to 2.1 with SBF and doing the OTA 2.2. Your DX will be smoother and faster due to getting all the latest stuff that the Leaks can't change. On top of that you are running a miss-matched system part 2.3.15 and the core part of 2.3.9... not the best idea for optimum performance IMHO.

The issue of having a full 2.2 SBF or not is mute... even if you had issues that caused you to need to use the "2.2 Custom System SBF" available (which is doubtful after getting the OTA)....you would at least have the core system that as I said the latest leask could not update and that you can only get with the OTA. This "untouchable stuff" is the actual foundation of the system and is more important in some ways than the system files used.

Regardless, as I said if you have the OTA, and have a serious issue needing to use the Custom SBF, once you use that you can still easily restore the system files back to official 2.3.15 versions.and whether you do that or not, you still have the latest and best "core" of the software.

I have seen people say there are only one or 2 file differences between the leaks and the current Official OTA 2.3.15... if you really think Moto only changed a couple of files across one version number, much less across 6 version number revisions (9-15)...and that these older leaks are just as good as the one that Moto continued developing (trust me they don't don't delay releases and spend tons of $$$$ to make the never versions for "giggles") ...I have a real nice Bridge and some really nice dry land down in south FL I will sell ya....Ha, Ha, !!!

I know you have seen some of the rare "M boot" issues related to the OTA causing people to need to get a replacement X...but guess what? If you were going to have that issue, you would already have it, it is directly related to 2.2 , NOT specifically the OTA. I speak from experience, I suffered with it thru all of the 2.2 leaks (sux when you need to reboot as much as I do Theming and Testing). The only reason you hear so much about it now (FYI, it has been discussed in various forums since the first leak) is because so many more people are just now getting 2.2 for the first time with the OTA.

As a matter of fact I was the first official report to Verizon Warranty Center of this issue with 2.2 at approx 7am Eastern (waited for the A team to be there) the morning of the release, at least that's what they told me. I spent 30 minutes detailing everything for them at their request and because I knew it would make it easier for the next people to call with this issue. The problem was it couldn't be reported as a direct issue with 2.2 ... BEFORE 2.2 was "released" :-) I knew it was gonna happen and was on the phone 30 minutes after undating at 6:30am!

I would bet ALL other issues requring a DX to be replaced after the OTA were directly related to people trying to flash the 2.1 SBF after the update....and most like because they had the M boot issue and freaked.

I have said this repeatedly the last few days... I have been working with and using Droids exclusively for almost a year now(since they came out), and I never met an Official OTA update I didn't like! And each one has always been better than what I had before!

Enjoy !!!

I'm definetly not getting how to install this theme. I downloaded the zip file, running Droid X with Android 2.2, rooted, ClockworkMod, BusyBox, Metamorph are all installed on my phone. I must be doing something wrong with the unzipping process or transferring the files to my phone. I know in the OP you said to rename the files to update.zip then put them on the root of my SD card, but I did that and when I try to install the theme through MetaMorph I get an error message that says it is invalid. What am I doing wrong?

Unzipping ANY Update, Theme, or ROM ZIP = BAD MOJO

Ya don't EVER unzip those (if you want them to install/work), JUST copy it to the root (main) of your SDcard.

Using this way you don't even need to rename it..

Reboot into ClockWork Recovery, scroll down 4 clicks with volume down key to "Install Zip from SdCard" .. (FYI, you press press camera key fully to select or "OK" something), then scroll down once to "Choose Zip from SDcard" navigate to the file, select it and follow the prompts.

If you do want to rename it to "update.zip" always do that on the phone because it is common mistake for later Windows PCs to add .zip twice, ie, "update.zip.zip"

IF you decide to rename it to update.zip, then just choose "apply sdcard:update.zip" from the first screen of Clockwork (one down from top) and follow the prompts.

I DO NOT recommend renaming the files though...it makes it harder to keep up with what you have stored on your Sd Card (create a folder called UpdateZips to store ones you want to keep handy), and increases the chance of an accidental overwrite of one you wanted to keep OR even worse an accidental install of the wrong file. This renaming practice is left over from SPRecovery(doesn't apply to DX) where you had to rename them.

OPTIONALLY... you can just open ROM Manager, select "Install ROM from SD Card" navigate to and chose the correct zip file and select OK.. DO NOT check any boxes that Pop up like Backup ROM or wipe anything doing it this way.

BUT, learning to do it via Clockwork Recovery is best because if there are install errors you can see them BEFORE rebooting... using ROM Manger, it will auto install and reboot and you can't see the errors long enough to know if there are any. Again, not the best practice unless you 100% sure of what you are doing and what you are installing.

I would boot your phone into recovery mode and install zip from that way. That is how I have always installed these themes and I have never had a problem.

So boot to recovery.
Use volume buttons to scroll to install zip. Hit camera button.
Scroll to install update from sd card.
Choose update.
Then scroll to update.
Then install.

Come on now, at least read the last 4-5 posts.... look up ^ :-)

You do have Droid X Boot Strapper app installed right?? There are only 2 buttons in it.. one to install the recovery, and one to go into recovery... the rest you should know from D1 and is discussed in those posts above in case you don't remember.

Enjoy,

Looking good...

Did you already theme some of the app icons in your screen caps????

Or do you have Market versions of Gmail, Facebook and Youtube installed??

If so, I recommend you UNinstall the Market versions (the option will probably only be "Uninstall Updates", which is a good sign)... you will have a more perfectly Themed/Matched phone..

If it is just the Icons, then nevermind and enjoy!.
