okay doke. advice well taken. im hoping 928 can shed some light. it took me a good few weeks before i grew the strength to even start the root process. had to do my research first. now im just getting into the themes. so much you can do with this phone
I have been reading, Rom'ing and theming since I got my X from Verizon. I have bricked my phone more than once and have read the wealth of information available to recover it. I am confused at my latest issue and I am hopeful one of you can help me solve it. Black Glass is an exceptional theme and by far my favorite. I updated my Rom to Zippy R3 and all goes well. its 2.3.15 Dedo'd and seems to run very fast. When I theme that Rom with BG, I get all the bloatwhere back and the phone is sluggish again. I have attempted not letting it update, followed all instructions to the letter, etc. I am wondering if with the addition of TBH 2..3.15 within this theme it creates a sitution that the new rom ZapXrevision3.zip is completely over written as they are both based on the same system files. Any ideas?

I wonder if its because this ,more than great theme, has a LOT of the app's themed to Black Glass ???
If you look at post 1. you see all the app's that are IN the theme and have been modified only to show the Blaclk Glass Theme.
So what you consider bloatware is in the theme.
Bloatware is in the eyes of the DeBloater....LOL

I believe the bloatware has retruned because they are part of this theme. I do not know if you can run this theme without the bloatware. Although I did read that if you go to Root Explorer and just change a letter in the app that you do not want to appear, then reboot your phone, it will be gone. It is somewhere in this forum.
Doesn't that imply that Black Glass is a ROM as opposed to a theme? I did notice that the kernal is now the same as 2..3.15 TBH. I would keep black glass over a diffrent ROM for all of the improvements but I was sure that Rom's and themes were not the same things. Additionally this "Theme" removes my aftermarket music player and resets to stock. I do manual clockwork bootstrap installs, and I clear system, cache and data mount system for ROM installs. To install a theme like BG I dont mount system. As a clean install of BG DeoD, I suspect we are no longer using a custom "ROM" but are on 2.3.15 TBH ROM that is themed with BG. I am considering BL a ROM/THEME so I dont go crazy. Any thoughts?

A "theme" in my mind dresses up apps to make them appealing and functional.
A "ROM" will modify the manufactures system files.
I agree its confusing and with the DX their seems to be grey areas. But we can't really modify the system files due to the imprisonment of the bootloader.

If you don't want certain apps (bloat), just delete them from the black glass zip file before installing. I deleted the blockbuster, twitter, etc apk files. So it never installed them again.
OR, just go back into root explorer and delete/rename any apk's you don't want.
Black Glass themes tons of apps, which is great. The the list in the first post of this thread. Any apps you don't want, delete them

3 droids later....finally figured everything out lol..Thanks again 928, this theme is awsome. i love everything about it. i have to uninstall adw because i hate thatt... but overall im using the deoxederr theme on a stock SHADO_X6_2.3.13_SYSTEM-ONLY.sbf file. here is some screen shots only took 3.
p.s all the new guys who look at the pics the wall paper is not on the theme so please dont bother 928 when you install it and it isn't on there. if you want the background or similar dl background app in market and look under "for guys"
I used this theme to deodex my phone AFTER installing tranquility (it was bootlooping) and so far everything looks good.
I have one icon at the top that I cant seem to figure out what it belongs to. It is the blue "refresh" symbol near the wifi connection. Looking through the screenshots I didnt see it appear anywhere else.
