[Theme] Flavored Ice- Dark Berry Edition by Jairomeo

So when you gonna start working on Dark Cherry or Green Apple hahahahahahahaha :icon_ banana:

Im gonna trade my Nexus for the X just so I dont have to make my theme anymore, thanks Rola

hey rola... i know i'm always the picky one so i apologize in advance, really just trying to pick your brain to see how i can get this awesome theme a little more customized for myself

so here's my concern -- any themed apps in your theme are removed from /data/app and the version within the theme is then transfered to /system/app, including items such as Facebook, Youtube, Talk, etc. So any app that has a themed icon can no longer be uninstalled or updated via market. Can only be removed through root, and can only be updated by removing through root and then redownloading from the market, which will remove the app icon. am i wrong?

This is an issue no matter what once the app is updated through the market. You can put it in /data/app/ if you wanted and it would still be the same thing. Even if you put it in data, some things will not be able to be updated via the market without removing them first since we change the signatures in order to theme (Facebook and Twitter are great examples). Apk's that don't have their signature broken, can still be updated, for example, I have YouTube in my /system/app themed but am still able to update since I didn't decompile or recompile it.The update will override the themed version of these apps even if they were in /data/app. Google has decided to make the traditionally "system apps" released to the market, allowing them to provide updates, but complicating things from the themeing perspective. With every update, we need the new copy to retheme the apk.

winrar can stick files within apks without breaking signatures, right? if so, how come android can't do this from within the system? app icons could be kept in a remote folder somewhere, and a startup script could place them into the correct apk on boot (would probably add what, 5 sec to startup time?) then all apps could be updated and on next reboot they'll come back themed. im guessing this wouldnt work, otherwise someone would have probably thought of it already... but can you tell me why it wouldnt work?

Once you edit a file inside the apk, it is no longer signed. In 2.1, you technically didn't need to sign apk's to push them, but if the apk's signature doesn't match the previous, the push will fail so you have to remove the installed version.

In 2.2 the files do need to be resigned. The nice thing about the tools like apktool and apkmanager is they allow you to edit the apk and resign with the test keys and be able to install the updated apk from the market.

Any of the themed apk's with a black background have be recompiled, so unless you know how to do those edits, & you try to simply replace images, you will loose those edits until the themer updates it.

i love 99% of this theme, but i prefer the lockscreen clock offcenter, 10% increments, and the round battery icons look kinda cheesy when they get to the red (the sadface in the icon). ill probably make these modifications myself, so if anyone wants them let me know and i'll send you the zip. thanks to Rola and Jairomeo!!

lol you don't like my sad panda for a dying battery? If you make an awesome round battery let me know and I'll include it in the first post as a separate download.

Wallpapers were added to the OP until I(drod2169;)) get the syntax error figured out.

For the wallpapers you just need to add it to the update-script, it should be

Code:
copy_dir PACKAGE:sdcard SDCARD:

Ok I'll try it.

EDIT: That Command worked. You and Drod2169 replied at the same time with the same command...hehe.

Are you running 1.8.9? I haven't heard of this issue yet. Did you Wipe Data and Cache? If not, I would try that and do a complete new install with everything.
I know it's not what people like to hear, but it may fix the problem.
