Theming Guide for changing system text settings.

QUestion here. Looking to see what I just did but I don't want to lose my current theme. Is there a way to merge the two together? I signed the stock one I made changes to so do I need to decompile them both? I had an idea but most of those don't work so I was looking for someone elses idea.

first i would make a backup of your phone, flash the stock rom of the theme your running and flash an update.zip of your stock framework-res.apk to the stock rom on your phone,so you can see what all changed. alternitivly you could open up the stock apk you modified and open up the themed apk and drag and drop the themed images to the stock one, if they are zipped up,you shouldnt need to resign it, atleast i didnt

OK OK let me make sure I got this right. For example. I went into the styles.xml and changed the keyboard text color. complied it, signed it, moved it to desktop (still with unchanged repackaged name). Now, I use 7zip to open it and I gointo res/layout/ and then goto the 2 keyboardABC.xml files and move them into my phones (which I copied and pulled to my desktop) framework file and let it overwrite the old ones? Then zip it up, rename it update.zip and put it on my SD card and install it?

if you edited the styles.xml thats actually the resources.arsc. you will need to move that over!

for me it was easier to move the images from the old(themed apk) to the stock one that had my edits in it

Good stuff. I moved it over. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my usb cable to work with me. Nevermind, I will email it to myself.

I do have a SP and Clockwork backup both on my phone and on my home computer by the way. Currently using SP.

Titanium one too for that matter.

Gmail only allows install. Yahoo allows me to save or open. I think I will go with Yahoo...lol

with sp you have to click allow update before you hit apply

I did (sorry, didn't specifically say that)

Phone loaded back up though. So at least I didn't screw up too bad yet.

I used 7zip to "open archive" both the phone framework and the repackaged framework. I then moved resources.arsc from repackaged to phone framework.
I then used 7zip to zip it up and changed the name to update.zip (not .zip.zip)
Put it on sd card. Tried to install.

I think I am not doing the resources thing right perhaps.

use Winrar Its a simply drag and drop and flash! Use clockwork (i didnt say Rom Manager) no need to rename anything!

i dont think he is using an update.zip, he is simple renameing a compressed file, not binaries in it.

im going to help him on gtalk. so the thread can slow down, lol

I couldn't agree more. I'd be lost if he weren't here.

Woah. I mean, I may not know how to do it but, rereading this entire thread, I now at least understand what you guys are doing and that's just insane. And by insane I mean pretty sweet.

I could go in there and change everything I have. Even the .png files. Do whatever I want really.

NICE
