Thoughts on ghosts, believe or not?

It was a cold night. We also kept hearing stuff moving around behind the trees surrounding the cemetery and one of our pieces of equipment had an accident -- the sleeve protecting the copper coil it used as an antenna went flying. We heard a "ping" and bye-bye sleeve.

Another night, another investigation. An abandoned farmhouse that had more nails driven into the clapboards outside than you would have believed. The place had burned at one point and been partially refurbished by the new owners. It was, well, cluttered.

This was taken upstairs. I had to hold the camera up because the staircase had rotted out. I snapped one picture and had to go show the rest of my team.

There's no glass in that window and I'd like to draw your attention to the bottom right corner. Yeah, no idea what that is, either...

I'd attach my EVP MP3 but I can't. Oh well. Another picture, then.

This picture was taken outside a house my team and I investigated because of stories of a ghost, this old lady, harassing a baby. She'd wake up every morning around the same time and go from saying "hi! hi!" to screaming. The homeowner's boyfriend burst into the room one night and saw an old woman standing over the crib and when he opened his mouth to say something, she vanished.

We all had fun experiences that night. The team leader saw a big blob with tendrils shoot out from under the little girl's bed and hit the wall next to the attic which it then oozed through. He said it made him feel sick and he was white as a sheet the rest of the night. I saw and heard things, the two psychics the homeowner had asked to come in with us had to leave because of stuff in the house, and we had to come back later to clear things out.

By the way, you'll notice the only thing in motion IS that light snake. Everything else is stationary. No way that was light painting and the team leader, who has a degree in photography, agreed.

I do believe in the spiritual world. I believe demons can manifest themselves as "ghosts". I have a story that will scare the poop out of most people. It is too long to type out here so I won't but if anyone is really interested PM me and I will type it out. I will say, it was when I was in college, I was with a bunch of college football players and we were running away like little girls.

I've been plauged by spiritual events all of my life. My current residence is haunted by a boy we call Brint, ( due to some Erie graffiti in the basement and a creepy trunk in the attic)

The last place I lived in my room mate was attacked twice by an entity of some sort and I once.

I wont get into elaborate stories either but I've experienced paranormal phenomena all of my life.

Since you asked, I'm going to speak up for the other side. No, I don't believe in ghosts in any way, shape or form.

I would invite anybody that doesn't believe in ghosts to stay in the Bullock Hotel in Deadwood, SD. My company did a job there about a year ago at a local casino. Prior to that I never believed in ghosts but that place made me a believer.

The first night in the hotel it sounded like somebody was knocking loudly on each door starting from the end of the hallway and got louder and louder. I opened the door and felt and heard a knock on the door as I was holding it.

The second night I'm sitting there watching TV and there was a mirror next to the set where you could see the bathroom. All of a sudden the shower and sink turned on by themselves. Sitting there for a moment trying to register what was going on, I could see the handle on the sink turning as they both shut off.

After that, I opened up the window to the outside and turned the TV on loudly and spent what I'm fairly certain was the longest night of my life wide awake. A coworker witnessed some paranormal stuff as well like waking up and finding his bedspread made out perfectly on the ground next to him.

Like I said, prior to that I never really believed in ghosts. Now, there is no doubt in my mind ghosts really do exist.

I'm so glad you said so. While I'm a believer , I was afraid that this would be a one sided thread. Most people don't have any kind of paranormal experiences and I honestly have never met a person who believes in these things unless they've had one.

Thanx Mike. Its good to hear from the other side. Alot of people on "my" side have a tendency to go overboard.

I personally feel like I'm cursed or something because of all of the experiences I've had. I've sort of learned to Just ignore most of them.

Bottom line is unless ghosts start stealing my money I really don't mind them. (Btw I have a cat that steals plenty of my money if I leave bills in my change dish. Bills and quarters. Only quarters ) :)

Like mentioned above, I do appreciate your input, especially from the other side of the coin. It is something hard to wrap your head around and unless you experience or think you experience it, there's not much of a reason to believe it it.

Write it out! That's what we are here for. As a side note I don't believe in demons and the devil. That's nonsense. There are some bad spirits just like in life but demons and devils are shenanigans .

Anyway tell the story. I want to read it.

Its funny that I stumbled upon this thread right now cause I just turned on my tv and ghost adventures was on. I figured that was I sign I had to comment.

I live in south orange county california and we have one pretty good ghost story around here. There's a place called blackstar canyon not too far from where I live. If you do a google search of blackstar cnyn you will most likely find a story that made the rounds on the internet a few years ago about the ghosts of native americans haunting the surrounding area. Its a pretty good story and I suggest reading it, there's also a website where all of us local kids post stories about things we've seen and heard out there.

That being said I don't really believe in ghosts. Its a very sore subject between my girlfriend and I, as she and her family believe that their house has a ghost. But I've been out to blackstar and didn't really experience anything. In fact i'm way more afraid of the locals, squatters, and satanists that hang out there then the supposed ghosts.

OK I will write it out. I have to tell the story of this place in order to get the full impact of the place.

So I went to college out in Springfield, MO. Just north of Springfield it's all woods and old farmland. Well there is an old abandoned farm out there which has become known as "The Albino Farm". They actually made a movie about it in the last year Albino Farm (2009) - IMDb . Well the story we had heard about this farm was that it was owned by a family who's son was the watchman of the farm and he had committed suicide on the property. So after his death they hired an albino man to keep watch and supposedly he had a very bad temper and would chase people off the farm with a gun. He apparently snapped one day and killed 2 people with an ax before killing himself. He is said to be the main person who haunts the farm now. There are also many other stories of how the farm came to be haunted so I don't really believe any of the stories but the one I just wrote about seems to be the most popular of the urban legends.

Well for fun we would make late night trips out to the farm, we would round up the girls we could and head out. It was always a good scare but nothing ever happened. A lot of the times we went out to the farm these dudes in black trenches would stop us at the gate telling us we weren't welcome there. The property gets used a lot for witchcraft and stuff like that. Well one night we decided just to head out with the guys and do a guys night and we ended up at the albino farm. Underground Ozarks Gallery :: Springlawn Farm (Albino Farm) Those are some pictures of the place to get a better understanding of how it looks. The pictures don't have the picture of the room in which this took place unfortunately but I will explain it to you. You will see a picture of a tunnel going into a hill, this room looks almost identical to that only it's not a tunnel it was a storage room or something built right into the hill. You actually have to go down some stairs too so you are pretty much underground. There were probably 10 of us on this trip and we all had flashlights and searched the room and it was completely empty. The room is about 20x15 with maybe a 7 foot high ceiling. Well we checked the whole room, ceiling included for anything and other than some writing from people it's clear. As we are leaving we hear something dripping on the floor and we look up to see what it was, on the ceiling it said the word "die" and it was written in fresh blood. It was definitely blood too, you could tell by the color and texture of it. Needless to say we all became world class sprinters and bolted out of there.

We went back there a few more times but nothing ever happened. I know this sounds ridiculous and made up but I have no reason to make something like this up. Before this happened I was the biggest skeptic there was of that kind of thing. And there is no way someone slipped into the room unnoticed and wrote it on the ceiling while we weren't looking. It was real as real can be. I will never forget it and neither will the rest of the guys. I am only in contact with a few of them now but it still comes up in conversation pretty often.

Thought I might post a link. Even as a "non believer" I get glued to these stories.

Oh and as a side note there's another place pretty similar to this one literally just down the street from my house up in the hills. There's a gravel company out in the middle of nowhere at the end of a long dark tree lined road. When I was in highschool my friends and I would occasionally go out there to drink and smoke a few joints, and we saw some stuff that you could call paranormal. I of course always wrote it off but one of the most common stories people would tell is of headlights showing up behind their cars on the road back into town and then having no car behind them when they got to the stoplight at the end of the road. Stuff like this has occasionally made me rethink my position but i'm really headstrong lol.

I just saw this thread and thought I would post about my own experiences. In my old house, I would wake up in the middle of the night to my bed shaking violently on its own. And I mean violently. And no, we didn't live on a fault line, and the house was pretty sturdy. Other than that I would hear footsteps around my room and breathing in my ear, and all three of these things have stopped since we moved.
Although the most solid evidence I have that ghosts exist is the experience in my friend's house. He had a wind up music box, which he had never wound, and yet it would start and stop playing all on its own. I was sitting next to it when it started, and I studied it and there was nothing strange about it, it was just a standard old music box.

But yea, those are my experiences, and I do believe that a strong energy can leave behind an imprint, and we can experience it as a paranormal encounter. Saying I believe in ghosts might be a stretch, per se, but there are undeniably things that can't be explained via standard reasoning, so I guess it would be better to say I believe in the paranormal.
