Thunderbolt now or Bionic later?

I'm surprised I'm getting the battery life that I'm getting on the TB with the small 1400 battery. Will pick up the Seidio to see how much 1600+ works.

I'm waiting for the Bionic and I'll take my chances with the unlimited(5gb) data plan. I got to use a Tbolt for a few minutes, and while it is a nice device and the 4g was fast, I'm kind of a Moto fanboy. I really like their build quality, and the internals are newer technology. If I'm going to be stuck with the same phone for 20 months(early upgrade is gone), I want to have the latest tech inside. Another reason is the Gorilla Glass Moto uses. I have my D1 for 14 months and I haven't used a screen protector. Not a scratch!

Tbolt & bionic ,every piece of electronic equipment especially cell phones will be (old technology) its called planned obsolescence ,its all up to you if you want to be up to speed with the current devices ,I know I do and its worth every cent ,either way we're killing Apple !

the tests are already out and so are the reviews that say the bionics battery life is worse than the tbolt,,,,,,,,same old motocrap, overhyped and overpriced

That's funny since the thunderbolt is.the single most everhyped piece of tech since the first Iphone. Had it come out on time it would.have.been much more of a gamechanger, I will admit.

I have no idea what I want to do for a new phone yet. I know I don't want the Thunderbolt because I'd prefer to upgrade from my ogDroid to a dual core phone. The Droid Bionic is defiantly on my radar as long as I can get it before LTE prices change. I wouldn't mind a price increase of the $10 range but I know for sure I don't want to pay for tiered plans.

I was planning to switch to T-Mobile and getting a SGS2 until the ATT merger was announced lol...

I'm sticking with my OG Droid until they release an octocore processor.

How was it overhyped? Did Verizon do it? HTC?

No, it was overhyped by people in this forum and others similar. People went absolutely out of their minds about when the phone was going to arrive. The only thing I can compare it with was the arrival for Froyo for the original Droid.

I agree in a sense, it was overhyped. But not to most people. Remember, most people who own the phone don't know forums even exist for them.

I believe HTC said it was the phone after your dream phone. I still didn't believe the hype that was created around it though. Really HTC just put something out until they can get dual cores.

The thunderbolt is a fine piece of technology but a large amount of the users on this forum treated its release like a second comming. Hanging onto anything resembling release information like.a medical diagnosis and se iphitn cryptic poetry hoping to unlock the code. Half of.the threads on the site treated its release like the plot.to a dan brown novel. So for the.people I talk , very overhyped.

That beingbtaken care of, id say wait and see what the.bionic brings to the table. I like the build of their technology, and hopefully.this toned down blur isn't as evil as the.version on the X or Attic. The thinserbolt.being.the.sole lte device right now makes it look appealing, but in a few weeks it wont.even be able to bring that to the table.

I agree with Bill I tell people about the forums and they havent got the slightest idea what the heck Im talking about yet alone rooting a phone and running a different rom I think we make it all happen here

There is always a learning curve when learning a new phone Eiji my friend. Easily understandable going to a touchscreen keyboard from a physical. On positive note you would be prepared for the Bionic if you planned on getting it :)

many people are talking about ho the Tbolt goes through battery quickly. but wouldn't a duel core phone suck it up even faster?

Yes but if I remember right the Bionic's battery is 33% bigger.

Motorola did three things to improve battery on the bionic. Bigger battery, lower voltage ddr2 ram, and lower voltage dial core Tegra 2 chip. HTC did nothing to offset the add'l drain of LTE. So the bionic should run circles around the bolt as far as battery goes.

2 things will help all LTE phones though as time goes on. Proliferation of LTE and VOLTE. Once voice and data is running over LTE there wouldn't be so much radio work for the device and you'll see much better efficiency.
