Thunderbolt will be 299.99 with 2 year contract

I have paid well over that for phones on both Verizon and AT&T and that is with the 2 year pricing discount. Weather or not one thinks it is worth it or not is subjective, but I refuse to act like $300 for a smartphone is a huge surprise. Having used it for a few days, I would pay $500 for it.

Just because i paid 3,000$ for a 50" 720p DLP TV 8 years doesn't mean i should base all future TV purchases on this price point. I'm sure there are some people out there who would pay more than 500$ for this phone, does that mean vzw should price it at 399$ then? The argument is that similar phones with similar features are below the TB in pricing.

what i think he meant was that unless the phone is made out of solid gold, he wouldnt pay $500 for that for it only to be outdated soon.

I just think it's a little overpriced for a device with basically last years specs. It doesn't warrant a $300 price tag for what it has to offer. If one is in a LTE area I can see spending that much for it even though it's still overpriced but if not, I feel it's a complete waste of ones money considering there are MUCH better devices right around the corner.

TB is too little too late I feel.

That's the way the market works... new "base" price for an electronic device will raise the bar every time. There is a reason why my job gives me a minimum of a 3% raise every year I have a successful review--cost of living.

There is no comparing this price with a phone of similar features, as there are no other LTE Verizon phones available, period.

I don't really think it's accurate to say the TBolt is "last year's specs". With exception of the grahics performance of the Galaxy S phones (which is in large part is due to the fact that the GPU and CPU are seperate chips) there's not really a phone from last year that can go toe-to-toe with the TBolt across the board.

Does that means it's worth $300 on contract, I don't think so. But I really want it and will pay $300, but that the most I will pay, and I'm not super happy about it. I wish I was a little more patient and I would wait for my NE2 in May, but I don't think I'll make it.:icon_eek:

Droid X, Evo, Incredible, all compatible phones that can keep up with the TB. Throw the Nexus S in there as well.

Man you only have until May for your New Every 2?!!! Wait for it to come up!! Don't blow it. : )

But CK, don't you think it's going to take time for a true dual core base of apps to be out? Aren't we way ahead of needing dual core, 1g ram, 16g internal? By the time we -->NEED<-- that, won't there be better options then?

Since I'll never operate a device on an AT&T service, what's the point of waiting?

Droid X and the Incredible don't come close into comparing with the performance of the TBolt. (I have a DX, my wife has the Incredible, so I have lots of experience using all three of them.)

Meh, TBolt will smoke every one of those with the Nexus S being the possible excetion.

As far as the NE2 goes, I've jumped the gun and missed 2 already, so it's just par for the course for me. :)

I'm sick of this Eris, I needs some SPEED! My wife gets it till May so she's happy about that, she's ready to retire her janky TP2 and start rockin' a droid.

Exactly, I'm staying with VZW, so that leaves the Bionic as the only viable alternative to the TBolt (IMO). I like Sense (my last 3 phones have had Sense) and don't care for Blur. The TBolt has more ram and just looks sexier to me (not really a fan of Moto's blocktastic form factors). Plus the TBolt should have better dev support. Bleeding edge hardware is nice, but it's not the end-all be-all to me.

Thats subjective : )

"Thunderbolt is a nice phone and the new Sense is nice but if you own the Incredible you won't be too impressed. Droid X users won't be missing much neither."

From an email I received a few days ago.

I read some where that the price was adjusted to reflect the cost of the preinstalled 32gb sd card. I don't think that justifies raising the price $50. To me the pricing point is all wrong. Yes some people were going to buy this phone outright, but there are alot of people that are/were planning to upgrade to this phone. I think it would be a shame to see this phone go for $299, but in a couple months possibly see the Bionic go for $199. To me the Thunderbolt should've been released soon after the EVO (at least 2-3 months). That would've evened the playing fields and brought on direct competiton with Sprint. Had they done that last year, something like the "rumored" (Dual Core HTC Pyramid to go to T-Mobile) would be slated to come to Verizon sometime between February-June. The funny thing is that HTC will probably have a Dual Core phone in the works for Verizon by late 3rd or 4th quarter and this will make people feel like they wasted thier money on the Thunderbolt. To me it seems like HTC can't get it right with Droids on Verizon. They come to late in the game(Incredible & Thunderbolt) or just inadequate (Eris)
This is strictly my opinion :motdroidhoriz:

Things are already moving in that direction. It's better to be ahead of the tech curve than behind it when purchasing handsets. If one doesn't know any better or care then a single core device will be perfect for them for a couple years. In fact by the time everything is up to speed with Dual core we'll be hearing about and waiting on Quad Core (Q3/Q4). The cycle continues.....

Either one stays ahead or stays behind. It's all personal preference. I'm obsessive about my tech so in a perfect world I'd be 2 steps ahead : ) but for now I'll be happy being a little ahead of the game.

This is whats going to fragment Android I believe. Processors...

Ok so is it going to be 369.99 for a one year contract? That is for sure what I want to do, as long as it is still reasonable.
