To Gingerbread Or Not To Gingerbread?

SBFing does not require you to be rooted. It takes the phone completely to the out of box state. If you don't like GB, you can go back to Froyo.

I installed GB and ended up having to get a replacement phone. The replacement seems to be working but all my apps weren't transferred over. So now I'm heading to Verizon after work to get my apps back! I just got the replacement today and it was already upgraded so not sure if there will be bugs or not.

Oddly enough, my battery seems to run down quicker with GB and occasionally I'll get restarts. Otherwise, GB seems great.

The restarts is a bug that bites random phones. My phone has rebooted a couple of times when streaming music from Amzon MP3.

For the battery, give it a couple of days. Let your phone battery run out until it shuts off on its own, then fully charge it back to 100% without interuption, and leave it plugged in for about 30 minutes after it hits 100%. Do this twice and you should start getting mucg better battery life out of GB than you did on Froyo.

Yeah Im losing out on bricking my phone, my LEDS not working, keyboard issues, music playback, wifi, phone shutting off, battery drain, gps, texting problems, etc.

No thanx

I have none of those issues. My phone screams. I realized that each phone and cpu is unique and instead of getting freaked by other posts, i decided to try it. So happy I did. I actually had more issues with froyo, seriously. I assumed you tried it for yourself and your phone didn't like it for some reason. Thats too bad. For anyone on the fence though, you'll never know till you try it. It is great

I love the OS of GB. It is much faster than froyo. Nicer to look at too. A couple minor things to figure out. Overall, I'm glad I did try GB.

i posted a thread about my issues that no one has replied to, guess there is NO FIX for this other than giving up on gb. I have tried stock rooted and all GB based roms I can find, same major issue. Seems all the issue I hear about on the droid x which i have. guess its back to Froyo for me :( so much for my mobile netflix

I have upgraded to Gingerbread, and there are the pluses, and minuses. Now, I'm currently in Germany and I don't have 3G here, but after I upgraded, the same signal I got before upgrading and to having it now, is weaker. I stay in the same spot with my phone, and I don't get connection. This literally started happening as I reset my phone for the update. Once I started GB up, my screen kept going black, as I said on one of my other posts, then when I restarted my phone thousands of times (4 or 5) it worked, then I tried using my app killer, then opened my app drawer, did that, opened an app, and blackness, once again. Now that I have restarted my phone quite a sufficient amount of times, GB looks good. My yahoo accounts don't connect though, it just reminded me of that actually. I personally don't believe the GB is the problem to my wifi connection, but nothing has changed, and still, in the same spot I always used to be and get a excellent signal, it cuts out constantly. But, past the issues, and without knowing what it will do to my 3G and cellphone coberage, GB looks slick, but I plan on re-rooting my phone again, but you need to go through some more steps this time, but it looks good and is a great new look. Try it out yourself.
