To Root or Not to Root?

Well that's my question, should I root my droid? I recently returned my phone to Verizon because the camera was not focusing and just could not stand it. Got my replacement and that one would black out when I would make or receive a call. Got another replacement and so far everything is great!! But now I don't know if I should root. I really want to change roms but I dont know if thats what messed up the camera in my first phone? So I want your guys' opinion, have any of you rooted your phone and messed your camera up, or any part of your phone? Maybe it was just a defective phone!?

Odds are it was a hardware issue, I'm not saying that could be the only problem but nine times out of ten that's the real cause.

Should you root? That's really your decision, can you live with the consequences should something happen from rooting?

We can't buy you a new phone should yours blow up, so if youre prepared for that extreme case to occur, then you shouldn't be afraid to root your phone.

I also think you should use a soft bristle tooth brush to prevent tooth enamel damage, but no body seems to ask me that....

agreed in that it's your call.

Since rooting I was thinking about the little "hiccups" that occur once in a while and think to myself that considering what I've done to the phone, its a small price. However I was talking with a guy at work who has a stock droid and he experiences the same issues at about the same frequencies. So I feel better about rooting, but not necessarily about the phone. But then, it's doing so much there's bound to hiccups.

Well thanks your replies and input guys..I want clarify that I did root on the first Droid I had which I had to return because the camera couldn't focus , now like some of you guys said I know there might some consequences but could the camera not working be one of those consequences? Has any of that happen to you guys or anybody you know? Than again!

Hey thanks for all the suggestions, well just dropping by to tell you guys that I rooted and everything seems to be working fine =) One thing I'd like to share with you guys is something that happened yesterday. Anyway I was texting some of my friends and all they would recieve was square boxes or a message that said no data! In one case my text message would even shut down only one of my friends phone every time I would send her a message!! Crazy huh! Do you know the cause of that?? Well a quick factory reset took care of that and now my phone is rooted and working like a charm =)

If I were going to keep my Droid I would eventually root, but I'm going with the Incredible on Thursday...
