to root or not to root

what is the advantage to rooting the droid x ? i used to have a blackberry storm an used the desktop manager all the time to download apps.. i am somewhat experience in these matters.

I think the biggest two advantages are free wireless tether and removal of bloatware. There are whole threads about this already though.

You can use easyroot, it takes $1 and about 60 seconds. It works with my droid x, and gave me everything but the ROM manager... (don't use the ROM manager unless you want a paperweight x) Other than that, rooting just makes the phone better... I also used LauncherPro so that I didn't have to deal with the motoblur home screen
