I am normally a naked phone kind of guy, but as of late I have really learned my lesson with not using protection with my phones. After a few nasty drops and one broken Moto X display my families phones are all cased up! When you have a broken screen it can be impossible to unlock and actually access files stored on your device. There is now a tool developed by k.janku1 which allows you to access your phone from a PC. You don't have to install anything just open the tool on your PC and you are ready to access your phone! You will need to be in usb debugging mode which can be a bit of a deal breaker if you are unable to use your device due to a broken screen. I guess you could just always keep usb debugging turned on just in case. More info and the download link can be found at the link below.
