Totally off Topic...Care to share on your theory of time travel?

I really don't believe time travel is possible. We would have known by now. It's just a wild concept that is quite fascinating, but just not possible.

I for one like movies about it and even made a short film about 3 guys who escape the hands of some bandits from the old west.

Not theoretically true. I'll see if I can find the articles on these theories later but:

1) Traveling forward through time: It has been shown as recently as this year that there are in fact particles that move faster than the speed of light, and travel near the speed of light is a way of "emulating" time travel so to speak. When moving at that speed time would still pass in the same way to you but what for you is only hours, days, or months could be years, decades, or even centuries on the far end of the spectrum for those still in normal space. You would in effect be traveling forward in time from your own perspective

2) Traveling back: There is research pointing to subatomic particles having a "memory" of sorts such that if analyzed in the right way one could understand their orientation and energy state as it existed at any past moment at time. If you had a device capable of doing so and had access to the necessary energy you could recreate any past environment exactly as it was, and with the exception of the randomness of discussed by quantum theory, from that point onward this new timeline would play itself out almost exactly as it did previously. The only way there could be any major deviations is if act by humans cause it, and that could only result if we have free will, which is another argument entirely, albeit a very interesting one.

Time travel seems entirely plausible, the only question is if we will invent or discover the means by which to achieve it.

The problem with that is you have be doing 98-99% C before time delation is a big deal. We don't know how go anywhere near that fast.

Just saying, it's theoretically possible, and I mentioned at the end it's all a matter of whether or not we ever create or discover the means to do so.

Yeah, but think about this...traveling back or forward would mean putting yourself in a whole new place. This means the entire earth would have to change back to how things are/were that day. So...your body would have to be the "material" that traveled to that place. I don't know, it's very confusing. I'll stick to movies that show it.

The theory I posted doesn't involve you traveling backwards but changing the state of all atoms around you to how they were at some specific previous point. Time would not actually change, but for all intents and purposes it has. As to forward travel, things would changes as they do, it's just that time for you would be different from your perspective. Time travel is possible. Go to the event horizon of a blackhole n time will slow tremendously, then somehow figure out a way to escape, n you will be further in the future than u would've been had u not made the journey ;)

That won't work either, if you go to the event horizon, the tidal forces will pull you into a very long string of jelly. Perhaps you could time travel but you would be dead.

Actually no, there are no physical particles that can travel faster than light. If you are talking about the Cern experiment with the neutrinos, it has been shown to be a mistake in the equipment. It was a loose connection.

Scientists Kinda Sorta Produce Faster Than Light Travel | News & Opinion | PCMag.com This mentions that experiment's failure. This is interesting, though technically they're getting light to exceed light speed so take it for what it is. Still pretty cool stuff.

Anyway, in theory you only need to travel near the speed of light to travel forward relative to everyone else, so we'll see what happens with all that in the future.

without a flux capacitor i dont see how it's possible

Yup, still waiting on future technologies :)

If Einstein were still around I'm sure he'd be in these Droid forums discussing this with us... I'm sure with more technical explanations :)

Lmmfao! Go brother! Where the hell are the flying cars?.. I know that's not far away really...just more of a hazard is why not many are working on it...lol
