Turn by turn GPS, first impression

For example, try entering this address...

You enter addresses? On a Droid?

I just tell it what I want or where to go. It's much quicker and you're able to do it at a stoplight. No way you're typing all that in during a break in driving - and no way you're typing anything while moving!

I can wake up my phone, long press the search key, tell it where to navigate me, and be on my way long before my Garmin finishes loading its maps.

And before anyone chimes in with "nav and maps work perfect for me" congratulations... spend a minute on Googles support forums (if you can really call them 'support') to see just how many people are having problems with the maps lately.[/QUOTE]

You have to realize that human nature being what it is - you're more likely to read complaints rather than compliments. They probably outnumber those with successful experiences more than 100 to 1!

So - if more people chimed in saying "no problem here" you might get a more educated view of the +/- of any subject matter, including the gps system on the Droid.

Going with that rationale - I can honestly say for the most part my GPS works fine on my Droid! ;) Couple of hiccups, but considering I bought a phone which just happens to come with at free gps - I'm ecstatic with it's navigation abilities! :) Okay, except for that time it logged my location 4 states away from where I stood - gasp! .. ;) mike

Precisely. No one's saying that Google Nav is flawless. But basing an opinion on problem posts in a discussion forum will give you a skewed perspective. I could point to any product's discussion forum and claim that the product is junk because of the high ratio complaints. Even this site's complaint threads outnumber the compliments by a large ratio. Guess I'd better ditch my Droid... :D

asmallchild, can I ask a foolish question, how does it work, today I played with it for the first time,I turned on GPS receiver, I hit voice search and my home address from town , it shows the address in the right location but gave no directions how does that work, just a quick explanation if you can I have many GPS unit's but have not played with phone yet.
Thanks much

Funny I just posted a topic about it. My wife and I used it constantly in Hawaii after she discovered it. I am so excited about it! I am continually amazed at what this thing can do. :)

I'd like to know how to get it to tell me directions and one poster here says it gave him directions for turn by turn in his ear while talking on the phone was this a bluetooth headset?
