turn off messaging notifications

I have handcent sms and it shows both the standard and handcent notifications when I get a message how do you turn off the standard notifications.

There's another post with this issue and a solution. Basically turn of the notifications in the stock messaging program.

I don't mind the stock text app yet...I do miss changing the color of the LED notifaction light though.
