Try the ics only tool in my signature. Be sure you have debugging on, mtp usb mode and install from unknown sources checked.

I had same problem. Need to remove PDAnet if you have it and remove RSD Lite and upgrade to latest version of RSD Lite. At least that is what worked for me!

The PDAnet drivers were circumventing the RSDLite drivers. I have been doing this for years and haven't seen that issue until my D4.

Tried your tool too man can't get the comp to see the phone. It shows up as if I was getting files off/on the phone but
No further.

I second that. Every time I write over or modify my D4 windows says it is installing drivers and takes a couple of minutes to connect to the phone. Even when fastbooting stock over stock without any data wipe.

Got updated drives and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Moto connect works fine but can't root
I don't wanna rom it just yet just a simple root. Am I gonna have to roll back to GB and root and them rom to ICS?

I'll try that being its the only thing I have not tried. I got a laptop I just wiped and put a stripped copy of windows 7 on it maybe if I put just basic drivers on it and try rooting with that. I'll let you know if it works
