OMG, this forum is a lifesaver. I was on 2.1, rooted, w/custom theme. I wanted to upgrade to FroYo via OTA but the install kept failing. I deleted a sys file or 2 (long story)and my phone got stuck on the motorola screen upon restart. To make matters worse my phone was dead. I did everything i could think of but it would not go past that moto screen. I took it to VZW and all the tech did was try to hard reset in recovery mode. After doing some searching I found this post and the rootzwiki site info < http://rootzwiki.com/index.php/Smartphones/Motorola/Droid-X/Droid-X.html>and fixed the problem myself. OK, someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong here...I'm trying to flash my X back to stock 2.1, I'm on the first froyo leak...
I have the sbf file, I've unzipped it..I have rsd lite installed and have moved the file you have to move into the rsd lite program file...
I start rsd lite, put the phone into bootloader, rsd shows the phone, I get the spf file in the file box, but the start button never comes live...I just stays grayed out and I can't start the flash...Windows7 64bit..64bit drivers installed.
I'm sure it's me, someone please help this monkey behind the keyboard...

ok i get through the whole process, and it reboots. the next thing i wanna do is go to recover and reset my dada and catche, however im stuck on the same screen and nothing happens even when i press the necessary buttons. all it says is

I'm running windows 7 and I have everything installed as the guide says to, I'm running into one problem, my device is not showing up in RSD Lite, I do have it in bootloader and not recovery. Any suggestions?
Make sure you have the correct drivers installed. If you think they are... reinstall them again.

I just sbf d my phone without factory wiping now it wont come out of boot it just goes to the red eye says droid and keeps doing it again i did the sbf three times each time it does the same thing please help, email or pm [email protected] thanks ps i was rooted and overclocked at 1380 before i just did the sbf

Having trouble reflashing my X. I run RSD, everything is fine, the commands all work and the phone automatically reboots when it's done BUT it just loops in the Droid logo and eye repeatedly back and forth. Any guidance would be appreciated becase my phone just randomly rebooted this morning after flashing a new ROM and I REALLY need this up and running quickly because I have a sick mother and this phone is the only way she can contact me in an emergency. Thank you !!!!!

btw i was looking into what you were saying so should i get the full sbf or the "partial" sbf
what i did was
-install bootstrap
-flash this theme
-booted up and got force close loop
-freaked out
-booted into clockwork mod
-wiped everything
-won't start up
-only recovery and bootloader
-my battery is drained
-when i plug into the wall it displays the (M) logo
thats all
i'm not sure where i am right now. and should i get the 2.2 sbf or the 2.1 sbf im going

Turn the phone completely off and plug it into the wall. A screen should pop up showing a battery icon. If this is the case, let it sit for a while and wait for it to charge to at least 50%. Also, use the 2.2 SBF. I'm not sure if they ever released a full 2.2 SBF or if they only have the partial but either should be fine for this. And just go with the 2.2 SBF. You most likely had 2.2 installed anyway and if you try to flash the 2.1 SBF over 2.2, you are totally screwed. Other than that just follow the steps in the guide and it should work. Only use the section on ghetto charging your battery if the battery will not charge through the wall, and even then you should still try to borrow a battery off of a friend first. It is possible to destroy your phone using the ghetto charging method so BE CAREFUL!!!! And ask questions
