Unbricking Your Droid X

Are these steps for the droid x only?

They would probably work for the other Droids as well but there a couple of differences. First, the button combination required to get into bootloader mode is different on the other Droid phones. Second, you would need the proper SBF file for a different Droid, things probably wouldn't work out to well if you flashed the X's SBF onto an Incredible :icon_eek:

Everything worked for me as far as flashing my X but now i can't get sound thru the incall speaker only but only thru the loud speaker :(

I'm not sure how that could have happened. First thing that comes to mind is that it must be physical damage, but these X's are well built so unless you were throwing it at a brick wall that probably isn't it. You could try reflashing it, maybe something went wrong in the process of the flash. Or maybe try redownloading the SBF, maybe some line of code was missing from it that prevents you from using the normal speaker. I'm really just throwing things out there, maybe somebody else knows the answer to this.

Just out of curiosity... is there anything a reflash can't fix? Other than hardware defects or damage of course...

Not that I know of. But if there is, then you can always do a factory reset + a reflash and that should clear up virtually any software related problem.

Ok cool. That's what i ended up doing anyways. It's nice knowing i'll never brick my phone. Especially with the recovery that just got released!

Just bumping the thread because a lot of people need to reflash apparently in order to get the custom Froyo 2.2.

Edit: Also, I have apparently been sending the wrong file to some people. If you downloaded a file that is only 12kb in size, you got the wrong file. I mistakenly sent out a file that's supposed to be used for the Linux reflashing instead of the SBF. Most people should have the right file but if you think you have the wrong one, PM me again and I can send you the correct file. Sorry about the inconvenience.
