While I think my speeds are pretty decent, we pay more than those other countries.
So while the rest of the world is coming on line and paying less; our providers are continually trying to figure out how to screw us more.
Couldn't have said it better. While it would be nice to consistently get 50 down, it really doesn't impact any of us negatively, unless of course you're downloading dozens of songs or movies in one sitting. And even then, it's only a matter of a few seconds difference.
Personally I don't have a problem paying what I pay to have a consistent quality signal 99% of the time. It's not like we don't have other less expensive options available. While folks in some countries may pay less, I'm sure some pay more. Such is life, ya take the good with the bad.
How much of this is a result of us having other means of getting on the internet (ie broadband, hot spots, home internet) vs what other countries may have?
In other words, where we may rely on our mobile LTE for data on the go, those other countries may rely on their LTE for their sole source of high speed internet.

You are correct in terms of mobile being the only broadband deployment in some emerging markets. It's easier to put up a cell site than deploy copper and fiber to the home. That being said, there is no excuse for our wireless to keep going up in price while delivering less.
Any of these other companies wouldn't have the Capitol to put the needed infrastructure in place for a footprint to match vzw's here in the US..so..while we might not be top of the line..I hope they will do a better build out...and step up their game...we still have the ability to travel for thousands of miles and still retain a signal..not too bad...
We're taking countries the size of Rhode island...new york..they couldn't even play ball here
