I can't replicate this, but I got my Droid into quite a wonky state...
I locked the phone and put it down, and noticed that it wouldn't turn off the display (i have mine set to 30 seconds because using SMS Popup, if I set it to "Never Turn off" if I get a text message while the phone is in my pocket it will keep the display on afterwards draining the battery).
when I noticed that I accidentally pressed the camera button, then pressed the lock button and it wouldn't turn off the display. So I went to unlock the phone. it unlocked, but then displayed the "Ringer (X)" as if I had made the phone silent. I pressed the lock button, and sure enough the yellow "silent" symbol was on. I swiped it to make it go back to ringer and it turned the icon green. I unlocked the phone and it turned it silent again.
Now here's the odd thing. I did that several times with the same results. THEN, I pressed the camera button, and locked it, and it worked! WTF!
