I have an unrooted stock droid. I upgraded to 2.2 yesterday with one of the many how to guides from people who are not willing to wait for Verizon to push it thru. I installed it and it works fine, the only issue is my charging port has been acting up and finally completely died and I want to take back to Verizon for a swap. I am afraid they will not give me another phone if I have the update already on my phone, even though I am not rooted. Can someone please help me on how to go in reverse if even possible. Thank you.

The update has been released so I doubt they would even think anything if your Droid does have 2.2. Correct me if Im wrong but I think manually updating is fine its the whole root issue they dont like. I think your fine as is.

Don't think you can go back.

I don't see why VZ wouldn't take it back. Would they really go through all the trouble to verify whether your phone actually got the OTA or not? I dunno but many people did get it, so they almost have to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Plus, it is the official release si I don't see a problem if you stick to your guns.

Alright I am glad to hear this. I was thinking since I manually did it and it is not rooted that they would not have a problem. I'll let you know what the outcome is.

I'm in the same boat. Im not returning my phone but I find it to be very glitchy. SO I want to eithe go back to 2.1 or stock.

Any help or link to the process is apreciated.

( i'm not rooted )

I did not find a method to reverse the update but I was able to take it to vzw and they replaced my phone with a brand new one even though I had the update.

I actually took a chance and followed this process I found last night.... it worked for me!..

Went back to stock from 2.2 unroot phone ( Motorola A855 )

Funny thing is , once I was stock and I activated my cell phone, Verizon pushed me the new OTA 2.2 and i updated the phone. Good thing was the OTA wasn't buggy at all like the manual one I found on the net.

Here it goes for anyone else that finds themselves in my situation I was in..

How to revert back to Stock 2.0, 2.0.1, or 2.1

*I just want everyone to know that I didn't write this guide, just the first paragraph. You can thank ikithme for the guide.

Now that a .sbf file has been released for our Droid's we can always recover them using RSD Lite. it is pretty easy to use this. Of course if you physically break your phone it won't help, but if you screw anything up software wise you are covered.

If you unplug your phone while doing this it will break it beyond repair, Verizon will not be able to fix it. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO USE IT!

Here is a guide.
Requirements
A. A stock sbf file
2.0 VZW_A855_ESD20_QSC6085BP_C_01.3B.01P_SW_UPDATE.sbf
2.0.1 VZW_A855_ESD56_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.01P_SW_UPDATE_03. sbf

I used this one above ! (2.0.1 )

2.1VZW_A855_ESE81_QSC6085BP_C_01.3E.03P_SW_UPDATE_02. sbf

B. http://androidoverdrive.com/downloads/RSDLite4.6.7z (RSDLite 4.6)

C. Current Motorola Drivers

Make sure you download the correct drivers for your system either 32bit or 64bit

Instructions:
1. Download all of the files above including the 32-bit OR 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers.
2. Install RSDLite AND the 32-bit or 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers (Depends on your system most will need 32-bit some will need 64-bit)
3. Connect your phone to USB and turn it off then turn it back on, while your phone is booting hold up on the DPAD. (Some users have said it is easier to hold the volume down button and camera button instead.)
4. Run RSD Lite 4.6 as Administrator (For all you Vista and 7 folks out there. If you are using XP you may not need to run as Administrator)
5. Click the ... next to the filename box and browse to where you saved the .sbf file and double click the .sbf file.
6. Hit start and below it should give you completion progress and all of that.
7. Once your phone is done being flashed (It may take a while so don't unplug it) it will reboot and you will be back at stock 2.0.1 no root.
8. Done
