Update today

True...that's another reason why some people may not want to turn VoLTE to ON. Folks that travel between 4G and 3G areas might drop some calls if they turn VoLTE on.

Yeah, like me. 4G is usually OK, but I do drop into 3G at times. Don't want to drop calls.

Only calls to other ppl with volte will drop when leaving 4g area. The OK google detection seems to cause a bunch of issues, they did fix the conflict it had with the camera though.

Just got a notice 23.3.24 is available for my maxx... I think I will not upgrade for awhile ( if that will be possible ) do they force the load on you if you don't upgrade????

Please correct me if I am wrong...but I believe the Verizon documentation for VoLTE states that all calls will drop if they started in a 4G signal area and then you move to a 3G area while on the calls. It doesn't matter if the other person is on VoLTE or not, since you started the call on 4G.

I think Verizon will force the update at some point...until then you will just be reminded / prompted a lot. The update will not force VoLTE on your phone...only make it available as an option...you do not have to turn it on. This update does not do much more than make VoLTE and option and change the wireless charging sound and bootup animation.

Only volte to volte calls will be dropped all other calls are still routed threw the CDMA 1x system

I am not trying to argue...but Verizon makes it sound differently:

2. Will my call be handed off automatically when I move from the 3G network to the 4G LTE
network and vice versa with Advanced Calling 1.0?
No, calls won’t switch between 3G and 4G LTE networks. If your call starts on the 3G network and you
move to a 4G LTE coverage area, your call will continue as a 3G/CDMA call. However, if your call starts
on the 4G LTE network and you move to a non-4G coverage area, your call will drop.

This does not say that "only when the other phone is on VoLTE also"...just that when you start a call in a 4G area and move to a 3G area the call will drop. It has already happened to me once and I was calling a landline that was not on VoLTE. Maybe a coincidence, but I thought all calls will drop when this happens?

As I have made several calls with my volte on and have watched my phone go from 4g to 3g I can promise you normal calls will not drop

Verizon's info even says it somewhere but I have read so much info over the last 2 weeks I can not remember where I read it at :(

Settings, More, Mobile networks, and you'll find it on that screen.
