Upgrade: Android or iPhone

I've seen flash on the iphone. It was horrible. And the live wall papers although I don't use them, same thing. Widgets aren't real widgets like they are on android, at least not the ones I've seen.
And my friends, whenever they hack their iphones they start having problems. Couple of their iphones crashed. Androids seem to work the opposite way

Everyone is going to defend their phone as being perfect. Both Android and iOS have their issues. They both serve different purposes for different people. Arguing about it is basically useless, neither side will ever convince the other to surrender to their opinions.

To be or not to be........................wait what was the question? This signature has been Tapatalk approved.

LOL, then I am apparently not everyone. Android is far from perfect. Both phones have strengths that the other lacks. Thats why they both sell well.

Android has lots of room for improvement, especially in the UI and marketing. And coincidentally, those are the two areas that Apple is strongest.

I disagree. I have convinced several people to pass on Apple and go with an Android phone. I dont do this out of any love for Android but because I honestly believed they would miss the additional functionality of an Android device.

My mom got an iPhone on my recommendation. She doesnt mind the cost, and she doesnt use it for anything more than texting and web browsing and calling. Tech-stupid people should get an iPhone. Thats not really an insult even though it sounds like one. The iPhone is the jitterbug of smartphones. If it does everything you want it to do and you can afford it, there is no reason to get an Android phone.

I really don't have a horse in this race, but I'll add my $0.02 anyway. Apple's biggest selling point and greatest detriment are one and the same. You know what you are getting, before you buy it. It is the same appliance, every time.
I enjoy the new products in the android line up. Its exciting to see the manufacturers make android "their own". SenseUI, Vanilla, even Motoblur make the experience different, but its still the same OS.
I wanted an iPhone, but got a droid. Sure, the droid is getting old, I've been up for an upgrade for over a month, and IMHO the wait for a new android phone will be worth it.

It was the proverbial "everyone". I know you can sway someone's opinion when their mind is not made up, I was speaking for the people in this forum who already have their opinion formed.

And yeah, the UI on iOS kicks ass. It isnt as perfect as Apple people would like to believe, but it is definitely superior to Android.

to add to this...

I installed the iTap Keyboard and the Hanscent SMS apps specifically because I like the iPhone UI so much. And they were both so worth it. The iTap keyboard is the only cloned keyboard that actually feels like the apple product.

While the gingerbread keyboard is an improvement, it is still cluttered compared to the iPhone. And the Android text message app sucks compared to the iPhone. The iPhone one is way easier to read and looks better.

well flash in general is just a buggy mess...its not as if flash performance on android devices is something to brag about haha

The flash menus I have seen on my Droid 1 look fine. And I cant remember the last time a flash site crashed on my phone. Video and animation framerates could be better (and probably are on the newer phones...), but everything actually works.

I never understood why people boast about Flash. It's not just on Android, it sucks in general. The people who swear by Flash on their phones usually are just doing a "we're better then iPhone thing". It's a known fact that flash on android is horrible...Flash is nothing to brag about. But as usual, there are people who've "never had any problems" with Android ever, and those lucky few are the ones who use the bug-free, lag-free versions of flash that they somehow got on their devices daily.

I have a very hard time typing on the new iphone. Old iphone different story idk why.

I don't really care for iOS UI it seems too cluttered, I mean, you install an app and it just throws it on your desktop? No alphabetical order or anything? It's a mess :o I know it's proper UI edoquite to not have buttons, but it seems more seemless to have a default back button, in stead of leaving UI up to each dev and it being anywhere...just more of a hassle IMO

And I know you can organize them into into folders, but that's just one more thing you have to do that you really shouldn't.

You have just been post pwned

True I hate that as well. When I say everything is cluttered people don't seem to understand. Same thing I said about droid charge ui.

We shall see what iOS-5 has to offer, and see how snappy the new iPhone 5 will be with its new processor. I am certain that I will love it, however there are still things bringing my mind back to Android like custom launchers (launcher pro is the bomb), on screen widgets and such.

Still, as I have said, I feel like I might be over the whole hacking and customizing things and kind of just want a phone that will work flawlessly. I understand I have the viewpoint of an old D1 user, so I get issues like random reboots, freezing, apps killing themselves, and of course the good old reboot while navigating on the road... maybe these things don't happen on a new unrooted Droid3 or something... So that perspective is somehting to think about. Thank you all for the kind info and talk, glad your not bashing me for thinking about the i5 haha...

PS:: I am a terrible decision maker, I am surprised I made it this far in life.

iPhone has nav issues too... My friend got an iPhone a couple Weeks ago, and was trying to nav, he was in San Jose, CA and it kept coming up with his location in Minnesota for some reason lol

I almost never use Flash on my phone. But the times I do want it, I want it a LOT, and it irritates me when its not there. I have had my Droid long enough to remember life before flash, and I have experienced the irritation of not being able to view a flash site first hand when I really wanted to.

So no, it is not just weapon in a pissing contest. This is a capability I have used before and want on my phone. And I am not the only one...do a google search and you will see countless iPhone owners complaining about the lack of flash. They want it too. Supernanny Steve Jobs is waging his petty holy war against Flash, and that is the ONLY reason the iPhone doesnt have it.

btw - My opinion of flash mobile is based on my own personal experience...not on an article or something I heard. IMO, Flash works decently on the Droid 1. I dont have crashes and everything works. iOS's unofficial copy of Android Flash cannot say the same.

I agree. But the parts of the UI I like are things like the screen transitions, navigation buttons, dropdowns, ect. The UI is consistent and pretty, even if you cant customize it. The "app drawer as your desktop" thing is way [Edited by FoxKat for content], and is a major advantage of Android over iOS IMO.
