US S5 Lollipop Officially Released

So who all is rooted and what's in the future of being rooted. Those that have done this update what really changed other then the version. I'm Verizon and enjoy my phone as is but if the update is groundbreaking I will do it.

The G900V is the S5. Read the link carefully. It clearly says Samsung Galaxy S5 XDA Forums.

The download files say S4 but they are for the S5. The guy said he just named them wrong.

It's for the S5. Someone calls him out on it in the thread and he said he supports so many devices he just named it wrong. His method is confirmed to work.

Thanks man once I got to my computer and read more it worked flawlessly. 1 minor thing he needs to add is link people to sdfix for kit Kat app. I had appd installed on sd that didn't show up

Is a farcry from what it was performance wise. But still on top lol

There were a few settings screwed up such as time display stays on. I went to app store a couple of hours ago and clicked on my apps and there were a lot of updates needing OK as they wanted refreshed permissions. Good time to do that in the wee hours.

Update: There is a pretty good improvement in the sound I get on my Jaybird Sprint ear buds. An improved sound range and really good bass. Battery down a bit, but it's OK as I use wireless charging to overcome the poorly designed USB door (never open it).

I'm getting a popup up about a "get phone error" that goes away before you can read it, really brilliant programmer! Probably is the same one that fails to program keeping users settings with an install.

I'm noticing my phone getting hot during basic operations now where it didn't before. For instance, this morning I was group texting with my 2 kids and the phone heated up pretty good. I check to see if anything was running besides the text message app and it was not...... Last night, it heated up while using the stock music player and my ear buds.

Also, I'm noticing some lag. Its very fluid when scrolling left to right and from screen to screen in the app drawer. But opening and closing apps are slow now and yesterday my phone locked up while playing music. this is the fist time this has happened since owning it.

Just wanted to report my findings so far.

It's common for there to be bis with these updates, especially a major one like this. If these small issues get to be too much, try doing a factory reset. That almost always fixes these little bugs after an update.

My gf got a 2013 nexus 7 shortly before lollipop came to it. I warned her to not spend too much time setting things up so she could do a reset after the update. I had to reset my 2012 due to lag & bugs.

^ agreed^
Performing a FDR after such a large update is always a good idea. I know many of us dread that process, but it really does make a big difference.
Good luck guys!

S5 tap'n

I'm having bluetooth issues. With KitKat there would be hiccups in the Bluetooth but now I get 2-3 second pauses when playing music. I plan to do a factory reset this weekend to clear out the cobwebs after the update so hopefully that will fix it.
