Use another client for Google Voice SMS?

I love GV and use the voice/SMS service all the time. I dont use my 'real' cell phone number at all. I was just playing with Handset SMS client and like the extra feature like tts and popup notification.

The problem is if i respond to a txt using handsent it does not show up in my GV inbox. Is there a way to make handsent, or any other full featured client play nice with GV? Specifically I would like to see GV features like archive and contact number showing instead of the GV number.

Thanks

WHen I was on 2.0.1 if someone sms me through my GV I'd get the message in teh GV app AND my handscent app. Once that connection was established I could respond in handscent and it's goes through GV.

Once I went to 2.1 ROM they stay separate. Don't think that helps but I never know.

I'm not aware of any way to get Handcent to support archive. Texting through GV in't quite like normal SMS/MMS. I don't recall what does or doesn't show up if I use Handcent for messaging via GV. I stopped using it once the GV update with sync was available.

Are you using Google Voice and still paying for texting through Verizon? Most people use Google Voice because it's free. They don't have an app for SMS via Google Voice since it would defeat the purpose of using Google Voice in order to avoid Verizon texting charges.

My droid is on a corporate plan so texting is included, but I don't give out this number, only my GV. So I do only use GV. I am just klooking for a more full featured client.

Where did Google state free SMS as the purpose of SMS via GV? It might be the purpose for specific people...
