Verizon 3G Upgrade Details Leaked!

CS told me only if your contract ends by 12/31/10. So in actuality, if your contract ends on or before this date, you can upgrade. Annual upgrades are not eligible. When you figure it out, they are only allowing a 6 week bump up for upgrading. Not that special if you ask me.

So, can I get some clarification?

If I bought my Droid in December 2009 am I eligible for this? Seems to be a lot of conflicting information about this.
No.
Contracts are 2 years. On a $59.99 baseplan or higher, you will be eligible for an annual upgrade. This whole promo is to basically early upgrade peoples contracts who are ENDING on new years eve.
If your contract (2 years) is up AFTER 12/31/10 you are NOT eligible for this promo.
Your contract, (meaning the date that you can end your service with Verizon without paying any termination fees) ends 12/11. So you don't qualify for this, but this upcoming December you may qualify for an annual upgrade (not meaning end of contract) as long as you are on a $59.99 or higher plan.

Alright, thanks.

Disappointing but I'm fine with my droid right now.

Exactly. And its true, its not that big of a deal. Except you have to realize that theyre doing this most likely because of all the new phones coming out. So more people will be eligible to purchase them.

You know that you could always start up an add a line for $9.99 (if youre currently on a family share plan) with a Droid X. Then you would take your current Droid off, and put a dummy phone on the line. Then swap ESNs so you don't lose your number.

Evidently it all depends on the CS rep that you speak with. I've had one tell me the annual upgrade does not count and one tell me that it did and they would be happy to call me as soon as the DX was available for pre-order.

If you read on the actual Indirect Reatil Training sheet it specifically stats that AUP does NOT apply. That is bcuz if you were eligible for an annual, you would be able to get the Droid.

I think everone is thinking far too into this Promo. All its really for is to upgrade our customers that are almost out of contract, and to allow them to reinstate them under a new 2 year contract. It has ABSOLUTLY NOTHING to do with the Droid X. That's just an added bonus. That the phone is coming out and we're upgrading people a little early. Its just set in a likable timeframe.

U know, I thought about this last night. I'm on a single line plan. Could I upgrade to a family plan and get the X this way?

Yes. Just keep in mind that your priceplan is going to go up to the minimum of $99 for text and talk.

Yea I saw that last night looking at the plans. It will be an extra $20 a month for me if I do it.

I just didn't know if I could switch from single plan to family plan. Thanks for the response.

when i got my Droid back in november i got VZW to push my upgrade date about 4 or 5 months early but then again i've been with the company since 2002. i'm sure i'm not eligible for this promotion but even if i was might not make the jump to Droid X because;

1 that's another new phone this (calendar) year and another $200

2 don't know if we'll be able to root Droid X... yet

3 in 6 months there will be a new phone with a 2Ghz Quad Core processor, Pixel Qi screen with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 2Ghz DDR5 Ram, NVidia 480M GPU and 250 gigabytes of storage plus 14 Megapixel camera...

Ok maybe not that beastly but you get the point... It won't be long until another phone comes along to top the Droid X. It's debatable that a Rooted Droid isn't better anyway (probably the best smartphone on the market imo). Besides I'd like to see what's gonna be on the horizon or actually out when my current contract is eligible upgrade.

Well for all of us early Droid 1 owners that got it in Nov, we are lucky cause we are in the 175 break your contract deal not the 350 one sine verizon implemented it after that date. So its actually cheaper to break contract, then sign right back up again and pay 350 vice the 500-600 for the phone. :)

just a Tip ;)

can I get Droid X

Am I eligible? My NE2 is on 10/21/2010 which is 20 months out from my contract end date of 2/21/2011? Will I be on the NBA list??? Also I have taken liability over all my families phones because of my discount... so my Dad's phone contract is up as of 2/12/2009, over a year old. Can I upgrade his phone then move the Droid X to my line, the main line, and re initialize his old phone as he likes his old flip phone.

I really want the Droid X as I am tired of my Ole' Omnia i910.

Any Insight would be greatly apreciative,

Jeremey Norris
