Good news! I flashed the latest aokp from today and found that the 4.2 camera and gallery apps work great!

What ROM are you using? You're extremely lucky. When I would take a picture with 4.2 on a AOKP ROM, it just freezes after the picture. Works great on Touchwiz ROM's such as CleanRom and Synergy.
