Actually, it was the VIP program, not MVP, that was cancelled by Verizon last year. Under the program, the qualifying VIP line (the primary line in a family share) got an extra $50 off every time the line was upgraded. I used that a lot with the annual upgrade to essentially get the NE2 discount every year.
