I will not be buying any moto device until they decide to start competing with good specs...Why the hell would you buy a phone with a dual core processor when they are releasing phones with 8 cores now? You'd have to be insane and stupid.

And I don't care if it can run the software of today just fine...what about in a year or two??? Have you guys been paying attention to some of the advances with Android??? It's very realistic that in the next 2 iterations of Android that we are going to need a quad core just to run the base software.

For the most part 48 hours of battery life would be nice but not necessary. With the note 2 i can get about 17-31 hours depending on usage. I just want a phone that will give me a full day with an extra 3-4 hours of reserve. I do not need to have my phone on full brightness watching movies all day. For the most part i do not need my phone to watch movies on. Evey now and then ill watch one when im trying to do a long cardio work out or stuck at the airport. For the latter i would invest in a battery pack or spare battery.

I agree with you, except I'd like to get that battery without getting a huge phone. (truth be told 5" is already huge for me because i'm a pretty small person). I really can't think of any other phone to look at besides the dmaxx, especially on VZW. But i'm genuinely open to suggestions.

Interesting, for me the answer is yes. I use an upgrade on another line, activate the phone on their line, and then activate the phone on my line. I saved unlimited data and got the price advertised. If no other line has an upgrade, i send them my upgrade first (called an alternate upgrade or a buddy upgrade), and then it's the same technique from there. I don't mean to argue with you, more just inform in case you didn't know. Of course, it sucks that i have to do this machination, but it's nice that i'm able to.

So evil that they are phasing them out, with my droid4 I can type faster than anyone.
Too bad it feels like a physically unstable phone, feels like it can fall apart any time soon.
If they make a sturdy D5 with a fat battery I'm buying, and a spare one.

I've not noticed location services draining battery on my Rezound. I'd say it's the same issue as a weak/bad signal...if your GPS can't get a lock and it's constantly searching that will drain battery.

If the butterfly s comes to vzw as the dna 2 (the butterfly ended up being the dna last year) that could be a device to look at with 3800 mah battery, memory card slot, quad core, 2 gigs of ram, with a 5 inch display.

agreed - the droid 5 is conspicuously absent. if my d4 had a removable battery so i could put in a larger one and actually go an entire work day (yes, my d4 is usually stone dead by about 3pm after an overnight charge), it'd be a great phone. screw "thin and shiny!" and give me a phone i can actually USE without being tied down. that's the whole purpose of a MOBILE device.

but they figure that since apple has been so obscenely profitable with their iphones (which have neither removable batteries nor expandable storage), they might as well do it too.

too bad; chances are next to nil that my next phone will be a motorola.

The reality is that most folks do not 'USE' their phones...48 hours of battery life? Right. My phone is connected to exchange on push all the time, I write 50 to 100 emails and easily 200 texts/day among all the other things running and phone calls. Like you posted above...on a full charge, by mid afternoon my phone is dying. I imagine some of the newer tech phones might get me through a full day to the evening...but (and I challenge anyone with a touch screen) there's just no way to type as fast without the keyboard. I sure hope that they do come out with a droid 5. My current phone size is just fine!

Are the software functions like Voiceless Control/Google Now, etc., going to be exclusive to 4.2? I'm not too sure whether I want to upgrade past the Droid Razr Maxx HD, which apparently only goes to 4.1... if it's not exclusive maybe it'll come to 4.1??

Google Now is already out on the Razr series. (Both the original and the HD.) I have a 16GB Razr, and running 4.1.2 stock. Unless someone lost their minds, I can guarantee that these new models will support Google Now.

I have said this many times before, they need to make a maxx edition of the M. The M is the same size as an iPhone with a 1.3" larger screen, making it a great "Mobile" phone that can be handled and stored with ease; add a maxx battery to it and it would be well on its way to being a perfect phone, at least for me. Make it out of aluminum with Front facing speakers at least 32GB of memory and there is my perfect phone.

I would agree with you mistermojorizin, the dmaxx hd is the only phone i would get my vote for an upgrade right now because of the battery, moto radios, and on screen buttons. I wish the Moto X would have a big battery.

I can get 48 hours with my Maxx HD... If I'm barely using it (I've done it multiple times). I'm currently at 48% battery with just over 36 hours off the charger. I also have just shy of 4 hours of screen time

Key word "barely" I use my phone, guess I am one of those 10%. Verizon told me the same thing when I had to upgrade and lost my unlimited data plan. I believe their words were most people never use over 4g of data. Ugh!

It sounds like regardless of their claims, the battery life is improving. If I can get all day long from morning to night and then plug it in, I'd be very happy, as others posted. I think what nateohio posted is far more interesting and important than the current discussion of battery claims. Who cares what they claim? They perform how they perform and that's it. As they say, the bs'ing is all over when the ruler comes out.. That said - what are the better phones with 8 cores ? do any have slideouts?
