Verizon signed off on official gb for droid x!

What you do is you download it and find out for yourself.

I'm not saying that to be rude, really. If Verizon is sending an update it's a mandatory update so it will either nag you until you install or just install it anyway.

Here's the thing about updates: I've seen lots of them on many different phones and I know one thing to be certain. You will see more negative comments about any update then you will positive ones. Why? People will complain more then praise. Froyo was loved until the official version came out and all of a sudden people hated it. Most of the time it was simply a case of something else going on (coincidence), user error, or the occasional bad OTA download.

So what I'm trying to say to you is I have used Gingerbread, I enjoyed it. It was not without some issues but that was not an official version. Give it a try and make up your own mine, don't go by peoples opinions in Forums.

i understand ur comment is not rude here, but trying to get the stock build over successive attempts hasn't worked ...

all id like to kno is whether i can root it with gingerbreak and whether anything has really changed since 591 ....

otherwise i wont waste my time trying to dl it. i have the odexed build, but i wont put it on my fone if 596 is a worthy update since i wont be able to recieve the update with the odexed 595.

so, all i needed was some quick tips from those that done it already.

The changes with .595 are not huge, but the point is it will get you to the OTA. Can't tell you if gingerbreak will work. If you don't want to lose root, just wait until the OTA starts rolling out to make the switch. Unless you are happy running beta ROM's you will probably want to get the OTA eventually as Fab, Jrummy and other developers will be building new ROMs off of .596 after it comes out and has been rooted. So you can stay on .591 if you are happy with it, but eventually it will become obsolete.

thanks for the reply dillont, i will probably be hanging onto 591 until 596 is rooted (in both senses of the word) ...

Ome question when it comes out for the d2 if it comes out will everybody get it at the same time. What if I get it before my dad(he also has a d2 his is bare stock like when he got it mine is rooted and rom'd) but I didn't know about it? So if someone already got it will I have to sbf to get the update? Or could I just reload a backup that was stock?

Everyone wont get it at the same time but someone will grab the files for so the rest can maually install it. If you made a back up of your stock froyo rom then you can flash that and get update instead of sbf.

Swyped from the best phone in verizon's line up.
