Yeah except that requires very specific hardware software AND access to the actual device doing the encryption... you'd have to get into wherever the phone bootloader was encrypted and some time... is it possible? sure? it it likely? no.
I agree, nothing is ever safe, pirates and hackers will ALWAYS find a way. But with a phone will it be worth it? Remember the droid bionic, razr etc.
It wouldn't surprise me if they even have a process setup to start rolling out updates at the same time off the bat.
If you look at the timing of the release of this information is after all the bad reviews and recommendations not to buy the phone.
Look at the way that VZW and HTC screwed users with the HTC Advantage promise of updates within 90 days of release.
They couldn't even backup a 90 day promise, it's proven from that debacle as well as the hype around the VZW Galaxy Nexus which once again they screwed users ..me being the more than once they burned me on both phones with timely updates.
VZW will promise the world to sell phones and it doesn't follow through on the promises or guarantees they make.
They have lost my trust and my business due to this.
