If you look at the numbers, you'll see that they aren't much different than the regular family plans that were just discontinued (at least when you have 1 smartphone and 1 basic phone on the plan). With the regular plans for 2 phones it was $70 for 750 min and unlimited texting. For the same amount, you're going to have one smart phone and one basic phone receiving unlimited minutes AND texting. The only difference (for the most part) is in the data package. But this way, your wife can access the internet on her basic phone and not have to pay usage charges or worry about that silly 75MB $10 data package that used to be available for basic phones. Yes, losing unlimited sucks, but for many "normal" people (ie: those that use less than 2gb/month), the new data plans will work great. In fact, I had a gentleman yesterday that asked me specifically to change his plan to the new one because he wanted the unlimited minutes and he felt no need for the unlimited data he had on 2 iPhones. His data usage showed just under 2gb/month between both phones, and now, for the same amount, his wife can use her basic phone on the plan, PLUS he's going to save $20/month. There ARE some people that these plans benefit...it's just not the majority
