Verizon unlock code won't work overseas

I am living in Hong Kong and got an un-Activated Droid Pro too.
I'm wondering where I can find the SIM Network Unlock PIN.
I don't even have a Verizon phone contract. Neither have I ever been a customer of Verizon.

Lots of places. Ebay, [email protected] has been recommended on a few forums I've seen in the past also.

I have just called the Verizon. All I need now is a Verizon Account which has been used for more than 90 days. Anyone can help? Thanks.

Or did you guys get activated phones that were then unlocked?

I did. I bought plain conditioned Droid Pro on ebay and using it in Japan.

First time I powering up my devices with Verizon SIM card, I asked to activate. But after I replace it with Softbank's (Japan local carrier) SIM card, I asked unlock code, but not asked to do activation. I did noting special.

Softbank SIM card won't establish data connection all I can do is call and SMS, but it's must be another problem I think.

I had to manually add new access point name. The local provider helped me with that.

Thanks, but it's not about APN settings. Even if I settled correct APN setting for Softbank network, Droid Pro won't establish data connection. (The APN setting works fine on Nexus One and Motorola Charm). Very odd.

I just repeatedly receive these message (on DDMS log).

But at least I can call and SMS with this settings, so it's obviously another problem.

I bought unlock code from CellUnlock.net .
Because someone at howardforums said it's work. and worked for me.

I'm not sure if this is what you guys are talking about or not, but maybe it will help for those that have never connected to the verizon network and need to activate their SIM.

to skip the initial activation screen do the following:
touch top right, top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left.
That'll get you past the initial activation screen. from there perhaps you can get up and running on your foreign gsm carrier.

I have an unlimited data plan, been using it on another phone before this one, also an Android phone, with the same APN settings.

Same here ;-)

I able to use data connection on Nexus one and Charm, with same SIM and same APN setting. Only Droid Pro won't accept it. Even though My device catch signal (Checked on *#*#INFO#*#* status) and "Network operator" shows Softbank. So much mystery.

I had no problem traveling to Europe with my US purchased Droid Pro using my European SIM card.

Called Verizon Tech Support, received the unlock code. Call from a different phone so you can verify they gave you the correct code to unlock.

When I arrived in Amsterdam I put my KPN EU SIM card in and all worked fine.

One thing to be aware of:

I also wanted to activate the Verizon SIM card that came with the phone in EU. This cannot be done if the card has not been registered in US first. So don't buy the phone and fly somewhere and then try to add global calling and data from outside the US.
