Verizon's 'Certified Like New Program' Warranty Exchange Gets New Stricter Policies

No. as I said before, the cosmetic standards are for phones verizon is sending out.

Ok. So if it's for phone's VZW is sending out... why would they take one in knowing that they're being held to that standard to send it out?

So I'm not held to the standard at a brick and mortar but would be if I mailed it to VZW?

Third time through...
Unless you are verizon wireless and are sending a phone out to a customer, ignore the cosmetic requirements.

Third time through because you failed to clearly explain yourself the first two times. Still you remain vague.

These standards are to be applied to replacement devices VZW is giving to a customer?

... so where does the $299 fee come in?

See where you're leaving out critical information?

I agree.

And I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but you seemed to have a grasp on what could be clarified hence why I've been asking.

Dust under the lens cover is a defect in their design. No surface flaws...piss off. I can understand no scratches on the glass. Screen protectors are mostly a must these days. At the same time though, I can see people purposefully breaking their devices to get a like new replacement because of a flaw on their existing device. I have a feeling this is all due to the iPHone being on verizon now.

I'm sure the iPhone has something to do with it. So much policy has changed since it launched it's sickening.

I agree that there are those who take advantage of replacements which brings VZW to create such ridiculous standards.

But as mentioned, I work in a job where my device gets scratch and dinged up... and should something legitimately go wrong with it I don't want to be refused a replacement (or charged) because of the cosmetic condition. I can see if it's the glass/screen that's scratched because along with cosmetic the screen is obviously functional.

My opinion exactly, I work construction...avoiding things like dust or minor damage is impossible without enclosing it in an airbag. At this point nearly 1/3 of my screen is coated inside with dust.

I really hope this is April fools.

... and I've come to accept the minor damage my device will incur. I'm not going to try to take advantage of replacements because of it. But of course there are those who do... which leads to a crack down on policy.

... I haven't seen anything released from VZW so I'm still holding to it being a joke.

See where you're leaving out critical information?

The fee is charged if you send in a device that has damage not covered by the warranty. What is vague about that?

Cracked or chipped screen? Charge
Cracked or dented housing? Charge
Moisture in the phone? Charge
Scratched paint? No charge

This is what happens when people trust "leaked" information.

A warranty replacement (free) means there was/is something wrong with the device from the manufacturers standpoint. No?

So if these standards are being applied to the device being warrantied that's crap.

and the summary says scratches are reason to charge... last I knew a scratch can be considered a flaw. Why else would there be a measured requirement?

CLNR Cosmetic Standard Summary:

No blemishes are permitted on front surfaces such as the touch screen, keyboard
No more than two flaws, which must be less than 5mm in length, are permitted on other surfaces
No flaws or defects on lens
No dust, dirt, or fibers under lens
Ports must be free of foreign material and corrosion, be in operating condition, and have the plugs in place if applicable

The 'warehouse' leaves a grey area for VZW to screw the customer IMO. Should be determined on the spot... and then put in writing. Only going to create issues for a store rep to say it's fine, then to get a bill later saying it was abused.

Ultimately I don't know why I even care, I use Asurion for replacements.
... and if there's a warranty issue (where it should be a free replacement because of a defect) I'll deal with it then.

Just annoying to see VZW changing to an unfavorable customer service position on all fronts since the iPhone arrived.

Well exactly like I was saying, my screen is in that condition but I expect it to be so I'm ok with that, but if something else failed and I was rejected a replacement because of it that's ludicrous.

The warehouse determines what's abused and what's not then they bill Verizon accordingly .. the store managers and district managers atleast in my area asked to take a tour of the warehouse to find out what "abuse" is and the warehouse denied the tour .. think the warehouse is ridiculous and they should work out a refurb process with the manufacturers .. IMO

For the FOURTH TIME.
The "cosmetic standards" are for the devices VERIZON SHIPS OUT. NOT YOUR DEVICE.

Are you intentionally ignoring this every time I write it?

Lol that's what I said .. think the warehouse was extorting Verizon and raking in the money .. I would assume the manufacturers are still repairing defective phones even if its damaged?
