very sad :(

well finally sent in my phone a week ago and got it back less than 30 minutes ago im happy and pissed off at the same time im mad cause the replaced my keyboard with the flat one and it was updated to FRG22D so i cant root it yet with universal androot and i cant use rsdlite cause i have win 7 64 bit but i am happy my phone works now

In case I missed it what issue were you having with RSDLite? I am using windows 7 64bit. Depending on the issue I might be able to help.

Make sure you have RSDLite 4.6 and which ever motorola drivers installed (32 or 64).

Also, might have to use different USB ports.

rsdlite doesnt show my phone

i have tried all my usb ports i have reinstalled the latest drivers unistalled rsd and reinstalled

How about in the config menu and clicking on deviceId options and picking "first-come-first-serve deviceid mode" and then restarting RSDLite? if that does not try the other Automatic deviceId mode and restart RSDLite....

EDIT: you are booting up in the bootloader right? holding the up on the d-pad and holding the power button?

Ah do not fear :) I got a droid refurb about a week ago and I was having problems with the phone not showing up on RSD Lite as well, but I came upon this post:

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/rescue-squad/75966-cant-root-stock-frg22d.html#post785086

I also have Windows 7 64-bit. Try it out and let me know how it goes :)

I had that too however when I search droid fourms I did not find this exact post and found it else where by google search but the process works as described...so yes try it.

FYI - MotoCashe1 also put my post in the Root your droid with any os Frequently Encountered Issues (FEI) section.

Changing ROMs will not fix the issue, stop trying and wasting your time :P My Droid had the exact same issue (different area of the screen, but it was the entire length of the screen like your pic), and you need to get it repaired/replaced. Something's wrong with the touch screen. Flashing/Factory Reset/Battery Pulls/nothing will help.

Also: You weren't talking to a bot, it's very hard to communicate through chat so the agent on the other side might not have understood what you were trying to say, especially with 0 punctuation ;)

I have the exact same issue with my screen and I need to take it in to Verizon. I'm presently on CM6

I was thinking I'd want to unroot and install FRG22D. I read that if I install the OTA FRG22D, it would quickly take me unrooted.

Here's the thing though, after I get a new phone, assuming its a D1 with FRG22D already on it, can that be rooted?
I keep hearing that FRG22D cannot be rooted and that the FRG22D custom builds that are out there have been spliced together with previously rooted versions.

If I get a new phone with FRG22D, can I root that? If so, is there any other way to root that besides RSDlite? I'd like to get back into the world of custom ROMs :-)

Thanks

you can root it but only with rsdlite so far and to unroot just follow this

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/rescue-squad-guides/39254-sbf-root-unroot.html

and just use the update.zip unroot method it will bring you back to 2.01 or you can use rom manager to unroot also
