Voice Commands Lost

I seem to have lost the voice command icon on my S3. When I want to send a text message, or search the internet using a voice command, there is now no icon to touch to activate voice command. There is only the keyboard. Anyone know what happened? How do I get voice command icon back to enter text with speech rather than typing? Thanks.

Several hours later:

My wife figured it out. The icon that replaced the microphone icon needed to be pressed and held down. That returned the original microphone icon.
