Want a perfect Bionic? Can't Wait For The Update? Here's How..

finally got 893 to install but i lost the 1% battery incriments. The deoxed file will no longer install on the 893 system. I could not find a new zip file. Anyone have a link to reinstall deoxed on 893 system? The circle battery meter works but i am back to 10% incriments instead of 1%

Just did the update. Camera still sucks. I'm still convinced software alone will never make the camera measure up to the competition.

Hopefully this update will at least cut down on the random reboots and the data loss issues until I can get the Nexus.

There are two things you can do to help, and both seem to indicate it is software, 1) use Camera FX from the Market, 2) install DroidTh3ory's R3Blurr3d 2.0 and then install the new cream add-on. It has the new ICS camera app and it takes pictures very quickly and they seem to be of good quality.

Also, people are reporting that this combination installed on the .893 update has solved the data connectivity issue and the head-phone whine issue.

Good luck.

:in love::in love::in love: NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT!!! I installed the update (without cheesecake by going back to stock root, doing the forever root method (My Droid World Forums, rebooting, downloading the 886 to 893 zip file Droid Bionic Found Update Files --- Read Before You Flash, going into the STOCK recovery (while phone off, hold both vol keys in and then push the power button, hit the up button when you get the little guy and the exclamation point, then use the up button to select "recovery"), locate the 893 file you downloaded, select it and BOOM! There it is!! For some reason, my file lists in recovery wouldn't go past the C's so I downloaded it my "books" directory so I could get to it.

Since I updated yesterday afternoon, there is NO whine when I listen to Pandora Radio or Slacker Radio in my car through my car speakers and I have not yet lost data connectivity!! (knock on wood) I would usually get the high pitch whine very loudly when I was listening to these music programs in between songs or when the data connectivity went out until it was connected again (or until I hit airplane mode on, then airplane mode off when I discovered that the data connection was lost = WHAT A PAIN, especially when I am driving!!

Those were my two main issues. AND NOW THEY ARE FIXED!! I don't use the camera app much and I use Camera FX when I do so I don't have any issues there. The high pitch screech and the data problem were my only complaints with this phone.

NOW MY BIONIC IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!

I have to say that you guys on these forums are just so knowledgeable and make things so simple that even I can do this stuff. My 3 super techie-computer brothers would be SOOOO proud of me!!:kiss::kiss:

LOVE, LOVE, LOVIN MY BIONIC!!
STOCK ROOT (for now...)

Folks, I did the .893/Th3ory V2.0 thing as soon as it was all available. I was one of the first to report that my data issues were greatly improved. Living in the country I could only test it with the wifi to 3G hand off and it was working great and reconnecting to 3G really quickly if not instantaneously. Well, I went to town today and checked the 3G to 4G hand off and it was terrible. I had to do the Airplane mode thing twice before I got 3G back!! I was so disappointed. And then tonight I did a nandroid backup and after rebooting I went to Root Explorer to rename it so I would know exactly what it represented. I was in the process of typing the name and adding that it was unthrottled and that's when it hit me. The only difference from when the data hand off was working to when it wasn't working was UNTHROTTLED. I had run the script. I immediately went to the script and ran the restore and rebooted. And by the way, that reboot took forever. I really thought I was caught in a loop. But after it rebooted, the immediate hand off from wifi to 3G was back!!! I know this is only one data point, but it working right now for me (again!!)!!

So that is all you needed to do just dl the file and install it? No rooting etc?

STOCK ROOT (for now...)

I did not unfreeze bloat apps using TB, the Update ran perfectly.

Today the frozen apps, Citrix, V Cast Tones, and Videosurf updated themselves.

That is what is confusing me is stock root. I get confused since mine is stock and not rooted.
The thread is a little confusing with a lot of links.
In simple terms do you follow the permanent root then proceed with the correct file update? via root explorer
Also can you back up the phone if you ever want to return to OEM.

Thanks

1. Root
2. Modify files for Perma root
3. Cheesecake-update to .893
(optional)
4. Flash BACK to .886 to receive future OTA updates. The Radio and Kernel will stay .893 and will stay that way, but the other bits will revert back. This allows you to have the fixes of .893 while still being able to update.
