your new replacement may not be able to handle the kernel built into your old backup. I am not saying that is it but it could be possible!

it's worth a shot, at the very least we can rule that out if it's not the problem.

Try a stock voltage, stock speed kernel like Chevy's 800MHz MV kernel or P3Droid's 800MHz kernel, just make sure you're flashing the right kernel for the right ROM build.

GREAT! Some phones can't handle LV kernels and most ROMs come with LV kernels nowadays, it seems.
